Total Time = 22m 11s
Overall Rank = 209/1254
Age Group = M20-29
Age Group Rank = 36/86
Pre-race routine:

Half-cup coffee, english muffin, bit of hammer-gel.
Event warmup:

Jogged down to race site, jogged around race site to warm-up. Did a few 10" sprints.
Run
  • 22m 11s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

Started several rows back from the start line, so chip time was ~0:07 slower than actual. Chip time 22:18.
Went out a bit too fast. First mile was ~6:55, then second in about 7:15. Was hurting cardiovascularly by the end of the second mile, and third mile was tough, although all heart-lungs and not legs, which felt rather fine.
This little kid who couldn't have been more than 7-8 blew by me around mile 2.5 - damn he was fast, and literally half my height.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the start line - had to run around many people the first 1/2 mile. Not go out quite so fast.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got fluids and food. If I weren't in the midst of IM training I would have had a few beers, but decided to pass on them this time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm slow. But, getting faster.

Nice job! We must have started at about the same place. I'm pretty sure I know what kid you are talking about, because he passed me in the first mile when he decided that his friends were running too slow and took off.
