Sayhing "whatever bike gets you out there" is a bit glib.  This is a pole on the "best beginner bike for 2006" not a discussion on what brand of bike or what type of bike one must buy for a triathlon.

I chose the Dual (9 or 10 equally) because of its low price, superior frame (the only real aero frame in its price range) and great components.   According to Bikesport, and Mike sport, this is not really an entry level bike but a great bike with an entry level price.  And, it will be even lower priced for 2007!!

Saying "whatever bike gets you out there" is a bit glib.

I agree ... folks are looking for a little guidance into what we have found to be the best bang-for-the buck.  Yes, the key over-riding factors are fit and "T.I.T.S" (in that order) ... but the poll is presuming that you have taken the time to shop for a bike that fits you the best.

I'm a little biased, but I have to say the Trek 1500.  It's not their entry-level bike, although it is in the lower end of their spectrum.  It's held up for me well over the past two years, feels great, and I've been able to put some aero bars on and get a pretty good fit.

Got myself a Trek 1600 WSD last Septmeber, still surprised at how smooth of a ride it is. Love it!

The Lemond Reno is great. Its not bottom of the barrel but not too expensive either. Easy to upgrade later as well. Can find it in alot of sizes too.
