Today's Weight: 156.8 (1/7/06)

Change: -1.8

Goals: 150 by Feb 1

This morning I actually weigh a little more, so I put in yesterday's weight, since it seems to be more in line with what I've weighed all week...I'm thinking this morning's some water weight. (OK, so maybe it's cheating, but I need the inspiration of a big minus.)

Best to all!

Well, I'm getting things off to a slow start. The exercise has been sporadic but now I have my home gym back in order and ready to go. I've been making slow progress because my fiance bought me an ice cream maker for christmas and I've made several batches. Nothing like homemade cookies n' cream to kick start the fat loss right?....right?

Starting stats: 177.4 lbs, 34% BF
Todays stats: 174.2 lbs, 33.5% BF
Weight loss/gain for the week: -3.2 lb, -0.5% BF

Total weight loss for challenge: -3.2 lb, -0.5%BF
Goal for challenge: 169lb
Ultimate goal: 150 lb, 20% BF

Like Tam up there, I suspect this is mostly water weight. However, even though I don't particularly trust my scale to resolve .5% BF all that well, I would think that if it were just water I was losing, the BF percentage would have gone up a little rather than down. I am extremely happy, regardless.

Goals for this week: Stay on track with the amount of cardio, even though it's a busy week. Still get to workouts even though boyfriend is in town this weekend.

Game on.

(Good job, everybody! Keep up the hard work!!)

This was an amazing week, but it should have been mostly water weight.

  • Starting weight: 262
  • Weight Goal for the month: 252
  • Current Weight: 256
  • Total Lost: 6lbs
  • Total To Go: 4lbs

My goal for the week is to drink water and stick to my planned training.

After my long run on Sunday, I was actually down to 211, but that was all water.

I've started keeping track of what I'm eating with the BT nutrition tools. Bloody hell I eat a lot of fat.

Anyone know what the correct ratio is, I always forget. I'm something like 60% carb 20% fat and 20% protein right now and I know that's not right.

Keep in mind all the fat is fish and veg oils. And the carb is coming from a lot of fruit...but not juices.

I'm having some problem getting enough protein without overdoing the fat. I don't eat red meat - i.e. mammal. It is a long story.

I'm thinking that I have to reduce my carbs a lot.

I had a great week training-wise. The diet held together until the weekend. I'm back to tracking calories today. Right now I'm trying to get a campsite reservation for Ironman Canada.

Wow everyone is going awesomely well! Good job - I weighed myself this morning and I was down 1.5 ponuds - wish it had said that yesterday!! Ah well, I'll keep on track and hopefully have a good week this week.

Re the fat/pro/carb % - I try to stick to 40% carb, 30% fat and 30% protein - it is different for everyone and it depends on your goals - there is always a weigh up between having enough energy for your training and not losing muscle mass.... My nutritionist says that fat % should be no higher than 30% of which 10% max should be from saturated fats - i.e. get your fat from fish, nuts, avocados and olive oil

Thanks Kellyg. It sounds like I have to up my protein and down my carb. I'm not worried about the Sat fats, other than a small amount of cheese, I don't get too many of those. Mind you I did have a peanut butter craving.....

Keep up (off) the good work!

If you are training hard you can safely push your carbs as high as 50%, with protien being about %30 and Fat being the rest and still lose weight.  I personally find it very hard to get protien calories up without having a corrisponding rise from Fat even if you eat lean meat like turkey or chicken.

Thanks Chris...I think I'm about to have an Atkins moment....no okay, it's gone. Most of my protein is lean, I just get lots of carbs from everything else...Mind you I'm burning more than enough cals from training...

Thanks again.

My week has not gone as well as I would have hoped. I did well for a few days but then lost some motivation. My 'all time low' this year was 150 pounds, so I'm happy that I didn't gain too much over the x-mas holidays.

Starting weight:154

Todays weight:154.6

Weight loss/gain for the week: +0.6

Goal weight: 145
