St. A's is over for me. I just returned from the LBS after they told me my frame is toast.

I was pulling the bike up from the basement to put it in the bike box, lost my footing and in order to save myself, I had to let go of the bike which landed on a tool crate at the bottom. It (of course), had to land on two of the sharpest pieces sticking out of it making two holes in the frame.
The LBS told me I could ride it like this but he would not himself. It's close to the steat stay where a lot my weight is pressing down that will cause too much pressure, causing it to collaps like an accordion.

I cannot begin to tell you how F)&# pizzed off I am right now.

Since the tickets are bought and I cannot change reservations, I'll just make it a Disney weekend for my 2 year old to enjoy.

Good luck to you all and have fun. I will get over it (more for my daughter's sake). Remember, the only thing you can control is your attittude so keep that chin up no matter how crazy things can get.

Eddie

You are welcome to borrow my bike. Yes I am a foot taller than you but we can lower the seat. I'm sure we (the LBS) can adjust it enough to make it comfortable.

I sent you a PM with my cell number

Seriously..how tall are you and what frame size do you currently ride?  I have another tri bike, a road bike, stuff ranging from around 54 to 56 cm frames.  We can find something for you to ride.  Who cares if it's not ideally fitted?  It's better than sitting on the sidelines!

So an update on plans.  Sat we meet at 5:00 at Dan Marino's.  Friday is 7:00 outside of ??? And I didn't see anything set in stone about a swim on Sat.  Are we just planning for after the Meek & Mighty?

The BT banner will be set up between transition and the water in the grassy area after the race.

OK, quick update on some tentative non-dinner related plans...if anyone wants to join in, we shouldn't be toooo hard to find.

Friday....Noonish, we're going to hit packet pickup.  Crowds get really funky later in the day and Saturday, so we're going to get it done early.  THEN....we'll probably slide down to Ft. Desoto for an OWS and a ride.  All paces and swim distances welcome and it includes a group shower (it's a tradition!!!).  If I had to guess, I'd say Ft. Desoto will be between 1 and 2PM, wrapping up by 4.  Then it's the group meet-up, per the thread.

Saturday, a number of us are going to watch the meek and mighty in the AM, and likely afterward (or before if the course is open), do an OWS on the course.  Then, sometime in the afternoon, we'll ride the run course backward....time TBD.  Otherwise, it's going to be mostly hanging around the expo (we'll be the loud ones with the good t-shirts!!!) and dinner, per the thread.

Hope to see y'all there.

Rob and Kendall,

I cannot thank you both enough for offering your steeds to lend. After the fire inside me subsided, I managed to get a few more opinions. The bike will need to be seen by someone who is qualified to do repairs but I'm a bit doubtful of it's life as a racer now.

The bike does look ugly but it will do at least one more race...or die trying.

Thank you both again. You both show true friendship.

Happy Friday, St. A's BTers!!!  Tonight is the first gathering.  Just for clarity, let me restate what the plans are...just in case!

630pm...Baywalk...2nd and 2nd in St. Pete.  At the top of the big staircase there's a bar, open air, not a separate storefront...it's called Wet Willie's.  We're gonna meet there, possibly have a drink or two, and then decide where we want to go from there.  We have many options...and since there's not a large group tonight, I'm sure we can make arrangements if we want to drive somewhere.  Or we can just hang at Baywalk.  See you all there tonight!!

ANOTHER FRIDAY UPDATE:  Anyone that's around is welcome to do  packet pickup between 12 and 12:45, at the, errrr....packet pickup...area.  Heh.

Then, a number of us are going to make a very disorderly trip to ft. desoto for an OWS, then some folks will bike and some will run right after....probably around 1 we'll head down there, 3 or 3:30 we'll come back, give or take.

I know we are doing an OWS of the course at 12:30.  I think some people may ride the run course after that, but I'm not positive.

It was really well marked last year and lots of volunteers so I would not worry about getting lost.

I'm going to ride my bike at some point then bring it to transition...but I don't know when!

We're headed out somewhere around noon.  It's like herding cats to get my family all in one place.  We currently have one daughter at a sleep over party, the other at violin lesson.  Later on this morning, we will all messily converge and depart.    I have to get checked in, check the bike, and then we are headed for Marino's.  Hope to see everyone there!

I'll throw the road bike on the back of the Suburban, just in case.  I like having another bike to ride after my main ride's in transition, anyway.

Hey all!  Thank you ALL so much for coming to the dinner tonight, that was some GREAT fun!!!  It all went very smoothly, and I definitely need to applaud the servers and kitchen staff at Marino's for doing an absolutely awesome job!!  I'll definitely recommend going back there again next year.  I can be pretty sure this one won't close on us next time! LOL

Everyone have a GREAT race!  Sorry I can't be there...personal life calls!  Good luck and go kick some A$$, BT!!!  Whoop whoop!!!
