Well just came back from my afternoon ride, and in one piece.  Just riding along on route 202 when some idiot throws a bottle out his window in front of me.  Glass flying all over the place, in fact I'm still shaking.  Tried to get his license number but the jerk took off too fast.  I know the car though and if I ever see it again he had better look out because I'm going to jam my fist down his throat, wait on second thought; maybe a bottle!!!!!!

Why do people do these things.  They think it's funny.  There are really some human beings out there with sad lives.  Oh well, I do go on.

Anyway, not hurt, just pisssseeeddddd!!!!

I always just take satisfaction in the fact that what comes around goes around. If I'm not there to personally deliver it to someone, then its just nice to know that someday, they'll get their just due.

Idiots always reap of their stupidity at some point.

Wow...glad you are OK!  Somedays there is just no sense to the idiotic acts that some people go through just for their own self importance.  Another reason to ride as much as possible with other athletes, I think it cuts down on the potential hassles.  Why don't you and Ellen both move up here and we'll have a good training group!

I'm glad you're OK. It is hard to try to forget the incident because it has affected your sense of security and your emotional being. Something to remember is that you are OK; those who were in the vehicle that throw the bottle are not. What are your options now? Report to the police the vehicle and the location? Forgive those who attempted to hurt you because truly "they do not know what they are doing"?. Respond in kind to them? When you forgive you liberate yourself from the weight that has been placed on your shoulder.
Last year when I was in the "dumps" had to commute on my bike at different hours of the day. When climbing the hill and dealing with heavy traffic in the tourist zone, a bottle of beer flew from the oncomming lane that almost hit me but landed in the edge of the sidewalk shattering in lots of pieces that some of them hit me in the legs but no damage was done physically. Intended to do a u turn and get those in the traffic light down the hill but instead just focused in the big picture: Those guys will get their reward soon or later. I could just think that at times dogs come out and try to bite my feet when riding. Those individuals who without thinking do such kind of things place themselves in that scale of the species in life. Would you get off your bike and start barking at those dogs? I guess you wouldn't.

What goes around comes around.....
Those people who threw the bottle are propably the same people who will have clogged arteries, and lung cancer from smoking

Glad to hear that you're alright. There are idiots everywhere. I've goten to the point that I start to tighten my grip everytime I hear a car approaching on some roads. Thankfully there are very few that actually do something as stupid as throw bottles. I hope that this comes back to them 10x worse.

Evelyn,
Glad you're OK. I remember getting nailed by a chocolate shake (Burger King) in the back. In a way I belive in "what goes around, comes around". Both your assailant and mine will get theirs somehow, someday. The only down side is we won't be there to see it.
Stay vigilante and stay well.

Your experience takes me back awhile to episode in High School... One day this guy is bragging and laughing about nailing some "old guy" in the chest with a bottle as he drove by him. (The victim was walking; the H.S. guy was passenger in a passing car). About a week later the H.S. guy has charges brought against him. I guess someone else overheard heard the story and thought to turn him in. I dont know what came of the situation, but I remember that he absolutely didnt care about what became of the guy he hit.

Glad youre O.K.

I'm glad to hear that you were not hit. I hope that you made a police report about this incident. You can be sure that whoever the bozo was who threw that bottle, it probably is not the first or last time he does. He might "connect" the time!

Glad to hear your alright. I believe, like most people, what comes around goes around. More or less though, I believe people pull stunts like that simply because they are either Jealous or envious. They would rather call names and throw stuff instead of get off of there butts and try and accomplish something. Anyway, thats my 2 cents.

What is the deal with these people? I've only been road biking for 5 months and I've had someone throw yogurt on me when I was going 35 down hill, had people shout at me on numerous occasions (apparently it is funny to try and scare the shit out of road bikers), call me Lance Armstong, call me fat ass, beep at me for no reason etc. etc.

I ride 20 miles a night taking Mondays off on relatively the same few routes - either hills or flats depending on the day - and I love it. It's close to home, I'm out after a light dinner and back to spend some time with the kids. I refuse to be intimidated and as a matter of fact it makes me train harder. At first, I flipped everyone off and tried to chase them down - ok I was really suffering back then so I was kind of in a bad mood. Now, I just laugh and let them go because I know better but what the $%*% is wrong with people?

Glad you're ok. My attitude towards people like that is: "l'm glad that's not me". I can't imagine having that kind of disregard or even outright contempt for the well being of a fellow human being whom I've never met and don't know a thing about. They must have a pretty bleak life.

Still, they're a danger as well as a nuisance and you should follow up if possible.
