I am not sure that final elevation gain value is accurate. My ride up lookout mountain shows 9600 feet of climbing.... I don't know how much it is, but definitely not close to 10000 ft, it should be about a 1000 ft I think...

devotchkatata,

I see the issue and reported it to the programmers...don't delete the route in the meantime.

I love this feature and was wondering if you could get an updated map of my area.  I know I live on a very remote island but the map is old and there are new roads, is that possible?

I don't think so, that's all up to the provider google uses for satellite imagery...

Thank you guys for this feature. I'd been logging my GPS stuff at motionbased.com, but now that it's here, I can keep all my workout data in one central location. Love it!

Hi Ron and all,

The route mapping is a great new feature. Thanks for adding it. While I have been using it I have noticed a weird issue, namely that one of my routes fails to compute an elevation chart.

See: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?route...

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Chances are that at the time you created the route one of two things happened: either the service that we get the elevation data from was down, or it was sending a code for "I don't know", which we treat as 0.

The next version of the route tracker will have an 'Update Elevation Data' function for this sort of thing.

There are a couple other issues with elevation that I'll be looking into over the next day or so.

We 'think' we have found and reproduced the issue Lilia.  That was some real fun trying to figure this one out.  We're going to update all existing routes and climb data in the next few days and then we will see if it worked.

Will keep you and everyone else with 'anomolous' climb data posted.

Thanks Marmadaddy. The update elevation data function sounds like it will be a great new addition! Great work on the route tracker. I look forward to v2.

I know I am way late on posting about this .... Thank you!!!

I got tired of running through my neighborhood and totally CLUELESS as to how far I had run, or biked.

Now I am not so dimwitted - and can really SEE my progress and set better goals for myself.

Also thank you for making it available for all members.

I love this site!!!

I'm new to this and trying to figure it all out. I can't access the globe because I changed the setting from mini to whole log calendar and it won't give me the option of going back to the original setting. Any ideas? Thanks

See this article and specifically the 'Part 5, Navigation'

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=434

In your calendar view, you will have similiar links...go to the 'blog' link (which lists your workout comments) and yo will see a 'hover box' appear, click on 'actual', and then you will see the globe next to the minicalendar.

Let me know if this helps or not.

This tool is so cool.. It's going to be soooo easy to log my rides/runs etc.. Not sure I want to take my gps into a pool/lake! Anyway I'm such a newbie that these are literally the only rides I've done so far. I feel like my rides are maybe a little too short. But I'm a newbie and I guess I need to build up my base first.

Repeating what everyone else here has been saying, what an incredible awesome feature! It's like my membership value just keeps increasing every six months! I certainly know that with more and more options that you guys are adding, I become more and more inspired. I just love logging as much data as I can...

Now, all i need is to get a GPS so i can upload my GPX datas. Any suggestions?

Again, great work guys!

I really like the new route feature but...

The one thing that I'd like to see is the map re-center to the last point.  It would save a lot of time in panning the map when your route hits the edge of the screen.  It really becomes an issue when you are zoomed so you can see the details of the aerial photography and are continuously panning then marking your location.

I use another site that does this and it is really nice.  It would be pretty easy to integrate as you already have the point location and would just need to set the centroid of the map extent to the point.  (I am a GIS programmer)

I'd be glad to send the URL of the site.  I have it bookmarked on my home computer.

This feature already exists.  Just click on this button: recenter button and the map will recenter each time you add a point.

I can't seem to save it. I create a route, I save it, then it clicks into my route area and says I have no saved routes. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if this has been asked before, and if so, I apologize for the duplication, but is it possible to import a public route into your workouts?

If so, how?

Thanks.
