Comments:

I had a good run. This is my PR. During the run I was constantly calculating my chances at going sub 40, but I just could not manage it. I got to mile 6 at 39:10 and knew that I could not cover the .2 left in less than 50 seconds. It was a good race, and a perfect day for racing. I did leave it all out on the course, and gave what I had to give. Decision making was solid. I was very familiar with the route. I knew when to pick it up, and when to let off the gas.

This is my PR for a 10k road race. Next goal is to go sub 40, however, that may have to wait until winter 2008.

Splits:
mile 1: 6:03
Mile 2: 6:47 (hill portion)
mile 3: 6:36
mile 4: 6:32
mile 5: 6:36
mile 6: 6:33
mile .2: 1:26

I had a very consistant race.
What would you do differently?:

00:00:36s .... enough said.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited on friends to finish. (best part). Everyone had a great race. The wait for the busses proved to be a little longer than expected as I had a planned 40+ mile bike ride to make, but once I got on the bus, everything was good. Got back, listened to some race results, ate a krispy kreme, and headed off to do the bike ride. The ride was outstanding following the race.

There was a free madssage at the end of the race, and those guys are good too.. I hated running past them to go bike.. I need a leg massage in a bad way.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still evaluating. I can break 40. I know it.

Event comments:

The Silver Comet 10k is a good race that's been around for awhile. Eventually, these local 10k's will need to go to a rfid (chip) timing system as the times were slightly off from watch. I started my watch a few seconds later than gun, and had a 40:34 finish. The race had me at 40:35. That's a difference of only about three to four seconds.. which is not a big deal.. though it certainly could be for some people if it pushed them over peachtree cutoff times. Overall though, there is little to complain about at this race.

Nice race - great job on the PR! I agree that a chip timing system would have been nice - it was over 30 seconds different for me (started a bit far back, I guess).

It was nice to talk to you for a few minutes after the race!

Awesome way to PR! You're running has come so far; and now I know I'll never beat you again but at least I can keep trying. At least I like the view from behind. Way to go, Mister.
