Who's going, sprint or half, where ya stayin' are you ready?  I'm going, doing the half, probably gonna camp, and I'm ready enough.  I'm hopin' my aero helmet makes up for my lack of fitness.  I'm probably gonna wear it on the run too, might as well get the extra benefit.

I'm in for the sprint. Right now I am going down in the morning from Raleigh but I may decide to stay in Clinton. I am ready to go fitness wise. Hopefully a few aches and pains will be healed by then. First TRI with aero bars. Hopefully they will help.

Edit - Yeah, I know they warn me about Safari support, but I continue to press my luck.  And that means sometimes my posts are blank.

Anyway, my original post was something like this:

I'm in for the half.  Headed down on Friday afternoon and going back right after the race.  I hope that it'll be warm enough to wash off in the lake after the race, but either way the odors will probably be pretty strong on the way back to CLT.

Right now I'd say there's about a 40% chance of me blowing up spectacularly on the run.  Should be fun.   The distance is probably OK, but probably not at the pace I'd like so I could be pushing myself over the limit a little.

I'm in for the Half.....I'm headed down on Friday and staying at Goldstons. I went down this past weekend and did a brick in the water and on the course. I wrote a pretty decent narative in my logs....but this will be my first Half and that was my first WL experience. The water was chilly and super choppy....probably just due to the crazy weather. I was with a girl that has done the race several times and she mentioned that the bumps/seams in the road didn't seem as bad as in the past. Like I said, my first half...so i'm looking to survive and gain some nutrition and pacing knowledge on where I am just before I start my IMFL training!

I'm in for the sprint, staying at one of the dorms with some of the tri-club people. I'm volunteering for the 1/2 on Saturday, I'll be out in a kayak watching how all the real swimmers do it.

If they improved the seams in the road that is going to be a big help. Last year when I hit that last stretch and it was into the wind and running over the seams ever few seconds began to seriously mess with my head.

In for the sprint, staying in Clinton.  Ready as I'm gonna get.  Can't wait-doing the race with six of my training partners, five of them in the same AG.

In the half.  I'm going down Friday afternoon and am staying with friends from Kinston.  I'm like Tommy - can do the distance without issue, but I will not be at the speed I would like.  It is also very possible that the run is extremely ugly.  Right now I am thinking of doing the race without watch or heart rate monitor.  Figure that will keep me from getting really pissed when I am going slower than I want to.

It's all supposed to be fun, right?

No, sprints are about fun.  WLH is about me coming out of the water with a lead on you, stretching the lead on the bike and then running scared while you do your damnedest to run me down (unsuccessfully, I might add).

We will have to hook up before the race starts so I can put a face with your name.  And also so I know who I have to run from.

Definately want to hook up before the race.  Some of the Raleigh crowd was talking about getting together for dinner Friday night.

As far as the lead, with your swimming  and biking, plus the head start you "youngsters" get, I don't think you have to worry about me catching you.

I am coming down from raleigh on sunday to do the sprint.  I will be doing Riverwood the previous weekend, so I hope I have my bike issues worked out.

First OWS for me.

Does anyone know where to find out the water temp as race day gets closer?

I'm doin' the half. It is my first HIM. We're leaving Raleigh in the wee hours on Saturday. My mantra will be "pace not race". Hope to meet up with some of you.

Set Up will post on its web site the water temperature around Wed. prior to the race.  Then it will be posted at the race site.  If I can remember (you know us "old" folks and our memories) I will post the water temp when I get back Saturday after the half
