Expert 952 Chicagoland | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville I'm not sure why (well, actually, I do-money), but i've been putting off registering, so now I have to register on Saturday-don't like that, but it is what it is...i'm sure it'll be fine I don't remember this race ever selling out..... I'm so rusty on the packing stuff for triathlons, thanks for the list!!! I've been doing a ton of running races this year, but this is the first tri since last summer....so i can't remember much hehe I'm getting excited, too! The whole meeting all of you part is a huge bonus, I look forward to our lunch I'm fearing my times, as i haven't done either of the sport much at all... my running has been very limited b/c of my recent shin problems....i keep trying to get out and bike and life keeps getting busy on me....and swimming...well, in that same category... so I am not expecting a stellar performance and just going for the experience I want to attack Olympic distance after next baby (possibly next Aug, if we get pg right away this month and have the little munchkin in the spring), so I know i need to do more sprints..... darn goals! LOL |

Master 1478 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville tupuppy - 2007-06-22 7:58 AM Okay, reconfirmed with Jenn last night. The birthday party in North Aurora is from 11a-2p. Not sure of our arrival time at the part and how long we are staying. Part of that, I think, will depend on the groups gathering time for lunch and/or dinner. So, other than what I read about meeting at 1pm at the expo, is there a planned time for lunch and/or dinner?? Location?? Mr. McFuzz gave me a cell number. I think I still have Laura's (StartingToTri). I believe our game plan right now is to meet at the expo, pick up packets, browse and anyone who wants to can listen in on the course talk at 1:30... after that, lunch at an undetermined restaurant and undetermined time (how's that for helpful??). If I were to guess, lunch would be in the 2-2:30 range. We had talked about Mongolian BBQ -- that may or may not work for everyone? Restaurant may also end up depending on how many people we have and whether or not we'll get seating... I can give you a call when we figure out what's going on, or you can call me for a status update as well. |

As for location, please do call when you head decide, and I'll call as we are getting ready to leave. Where in Naperville is the race? and are the potential lunch locations close to that? |

Race is in downtown Naperville, as is the expo (at the high school at the south end of downtown) and all the restaurants. All are within walking distance of each other. Pretty much any parking spot you find in the downtown area will be walking distance to wherever we are. |

Master 1563 Chicago | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville Wait-I just had a terrible thought!! How are the secada's (no idea how to spell) out there in Naperville? Uggghhhh...I ABSOLUTELY hate bugs, and those, are so DISGUSTING!!! I am picturing them flying into my face during the bike! We don't have them in the city, so I'm totally freaked! |

Yup - I was still planning on swimming in the morning... was planning on something 11-11:30ish since it didn't sound like anyone else was coming out, but if you wanted to meet up, I certainly could be there at 11am. Was kind of thinking of running the course afterwards, but haven't completely decided yet ... don't want to do too much, but I like the thought of stretching out my legs just a little bit.... depends on time, weather and motivation, I suppose. |

We don't have them in the city, so I'm totally freaked! So, you don't want me to tell you how the cicadas are swarming all over the place?? Okay - I won't. Seriously - not a problem in Naperville as far as I've seen. I haven't been to the very south end of Naperville (where the bike course takes you), but it's not an issue in downtown Naperville, and it's not an issue where I live (which is about 15 miles south of there), so I'm assuming that in between is also not a problem. Also - I ran at Waterfall Glen the other week.. .the place is INFESTED with them (can barely hear my iPod above the roar of them) and it wasn't much of a problem at all. They don't bite or sting and pretty much will just leave you alone. Though they are ugly, I'll give ya that. |

Master 1563 Chicago | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville Phew!! I was worried about that. Guess I should have been worried about the fact that I left my goggles at the lake the other night. Just started packing up my stuff and realized it...so, now I will be making a stop to Mission Bay before I come out to swim. I should be out there between 11 and 11:30, depending on traffic. Good times! |

We ended up meeting up early, but were there until about 1:15 when we headed off to lunch. We were hoping you weren't wandering around trying to find us....!! Tomorrow morning the group of us are going to meet outside the beach entrance area (right by where the admission counter is) at 7am for a group picture -- meet us there if you can! I have the BT tattoo on my calf and will be racing in my fluorescent lime green javelin tri suit, so I should be easy to spot. Edited by StartingToTri 2007-06-23 4:58 PM |

COURT JESTER 12230 ROCKFORD, IL | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville and here is another "Sorry we missed it" post. The birthday party we were at (for our friends kids) ran late and these are friends my wife doesn't often see. So, I had a feeling it would be a long shot to meet for lunch. Hope the race went GREAT for everybody. |

Master 1457 MidWest | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville Well, I survived the race. I'm glad that this one was my first. I wasn't real happy with my swim or run but they weren't bad for a first-timer. Her are some pix from Lunch and misc. Will post more pictures on my album soon as I get them.

I like this event since it is all women and feels like less pressure that a co-ed event. Are you planning any others? Congrats on your first! |

Regular 86 | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville I had such a great time! Met lots of great people. I wish we had more time to get together and BTbond. I am going to plan for more time off next year, so I am not so whipped from the drive down. Hope to see you all again and spend some time together, next time! (Hot Dog! Two of my sisters may join us next year! Whoop! Whoop! ) |

Member 22 South Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: Subaru Women's Sprint in Naperville I'm proud of myself for the first tri even though my finish was just "ok"...but now I know how/where to focus on improving. I thought this was a great race...well run, lots of different abilities, big enugh for me not to be last I always say that Im not REALLY good at any one thing, just PRETTY good at a lot of things...... I would like to do the Naperville Triathlon in August but we have a wedding in Iowa that weekend...I thought about the Danskin one in Wisconsin but my nephews christening is that day...and then I briefly thought about HarborLights in Waukegan but it sounds kinda yucky based on some race reports... and I dont know of any others around here... I have done some adventure racing in the past but it is very hard to get team mates to commit to races now that we are all getting older/have kids...so I figured tri's would be a good way to just have to have one person commit to the race...me! But the swimming put me off for awhile since, like most people, Im not so great at it... But this past weekend was a big confidence builder. I try to do a few 5ks per month.....What about you- are you doing any more tri's? |
