Swim
Comments: i actually liked this swim. it finally helped to get past the anticipation from the last few days... What would you do differently?: i raced this part exactly as planned. start slow and stay outside. it was great. i could have been faster, but i don't care. i did what i had planned. Transition 1
Comments: ok, pretty good here considering how far it was to my bike from the water. i did much better this time than the last race. i still need to figure out a better way to get my stuff laid out before so that i can just pick it up and go...but, overall i did better. What would you do differently?: maybe separate my stuff better for both transitions. Bike
Comments: i cramped bad in my left hammy at mile 32...that made me nervous. but, i had a fairly strong ride. when i got of the bike i cramped again and nearly fell with my bike because my legs wouldn't hold me up well. made for a long run.... What would you do differently?: i forgot to get water in my bottles before the race and didn't figure it out until mile 10. I have got to remember that for next race. I think I wouldn't have cramped if I would have had gatorade and water. I was 2 hours into racing before I had any nutrition. That was tough. Transition 2
Comments: I was just trying not to cramp super bad heading into the run. drank some gatorade, had a bite of powerbar and headed out. again, did better in this transiton than in my last race. What would you do differently?: have things a bit more organized. Run
Comments: hardest 13 mile run i have ever done. ran last 10 with Joel. i am sure that is the only way I made it through. left hammy cramped bad a couple times. salt tabs seemed to work well though once i got them in my system. this was so slow, but it couldn't have been that much faster. i have never in my life been so spent. i had nothin. What would you do differently?: train more. i think i am just about 5 more training months away from doing this race very comfortably. Post race
Warm down: walked for a while, tried to talk to Lisa and I just kept getting emotional...which was bizarre. spun legs out on bike to get to the parking lot. got home and took a shower, then rubbed ben-gay all over my legs. What limited your ability to perform faster: i need to be in better shape. as much as i have improved, this was the limit to what my body could do. Event comments: i rate this race as great because i finished. it was horribly awesome. i loved it. i hated it. i am planning the next one right now.... Last updated: 2007-05-17 12:00 AM

ate a banana at home. drank some coffee. got super nervous. joel and i left my house at 4:15am
waited in line at port-o-john for 30 mintues while having to drop a duece. it was horrible. i think i wasted all of my energy trying to hold it together for that long. i will remember to stop before the race the next time.
