I've always worn socks, but am noticing more and more racers who forego the socks, presumably or better Transition times. What do you all do?

yes if you practiced it and your shoes don't give you blisters. I go without sucks for Sprint and Olys, not for HIM as been comfortable to run faster is more important.

I ride w/o socks, put socks in T2 as I race like I train....run in socks for me. My T2 is pretty fast...I have easy to put on socks.

Try running w/o socks and see how your feet handle it.

make sure your shoes fit without socks and try it in a practice brick. I have barefoot race shoes and socked training shoes I use.

I went without socks and liked it. I also only look at my individual splits to see how I am doing and where I am improving. So I see 8:15 pace on the run and know that is my baseline. I will look at transition time differences as well, but again I would compare races where I used socks verse not. Are you close to placing in your AG? If not, then do what is comfortable.

If you want to get used to running without socks this is what I did.

Just use your regular running shoes and have a pair of socks in your pocket. At the VERY first sign of discomfort just stop and put your socks on. Within a few days to a week or two you will most likely be training ALL the time with no socks on the run or the bike.

No socks. I make sure that the shoes I wear won't cause blisters in race-like conditions before race day.

I couldn't find my socks when I got to T1 in my last race, so I did the bike & run without 'em, and had no problems, so I haven't used them since.

I went sockless for the first time today during our Minnesota BT Mock Tri and it was great on the bike, but I got 3 blisters from the run.

Personally, I wear socks for ALL distances.  yes, even a sprint.  But I can't run more than 1/4 mile without getting a blister.  I did forget my socks at my last HIM, but found them for the run.

So, as others have said, practice it!  It's a personal preferance, but do not figure out your personal preferance on race day.
