Subject: BEST WI/MIDWEST BIKE STORES/FITTERS?
HELP! I'm looking for advice re: bike stores/fitters that specialize in tri. For 3 years, I've been riding a Felt road bike that has been fitted/modified for triathlons. It's a great bike, but...I'm signed up for IM WI, and I'm having trouble staying comfortable on rides over 50 miles. At this point, I don't think it's as much an issue with fitness as it is with position/geometry. But I'd like to know for sure.I'm considering switching over to a tri bike, and I'd like to talk with someone who really knows their stuff. I have a list of the more well-known shops in the midwest, but I'm hoping to hear from athletes with first-hand experience who can give me a personal recommendation (and some advice about whether it makes sense to travel a long distance to find a great shop, even if it means giving up the service perks of going local).I know it's getting late in the game, as far as switching things around, so I'm feeling a bit pressed for time. This will be my first IM, so I'm more interested in fit/comfort than I am in speed. Any information will be much appreciated--thanks!--Nicole

Bikesport in Dearborn Michigan ( by Detroit) he is the best. Knows bikes inside and out. Ironman who has done thousands of fits. I drove 3 hours to get mine there and would recommend him to anyone. He will do a fit on you when you get there of 23 measurements and then recommend bikes from that point not selling you what he wants but what fits.

Getagrip in Chicago....

I went through the entire process with them from measurements, videotape, computrainer, and specing out a new custom frame.

I will second the Bikesport in Michigan. Tom Demerly is the owner and although I have never been there, I have heard nothing but POSITIVE things about him and his store. If it was closer it would be where I would go.
