Comments:

Lotsa lotsa people on a VERY small course. There were a lot of newbies out there who were either freaked out from the get go or went out way too fast that caused some issues. Nothing against newbies of course, we were all newbies once.
What would you do differently?:

Well, I still need to fix my stroke, etc., but my sighting and capacity for dealing with large numbers of people in the water is definitely improving.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transitions weren't recorded, so I don't know the time. Seemed very slow, though. The biggest issue was the beginning bike UP the hill as I was trying to get my shoes in place.
What would you do differently?:

Set my bike in a lower gear.
Bike
  • 33m 52s
  • 10 miles
  • 17.72 mile/hr
Comments:

This just can't be right. Except for a few hills, I was typically over 20 mph and over 30 at some points. There is no way I had a faster average in my oly last week than this week in a sprint! All I drank on the bike was about 2 sips of Infinit, but I didn't really need anything else.
What would you do differently?:

Well, I thought it went very well, despite the numbers. I passed a significant number of people.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Again, no time data...
Run
  • 26m 6s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Overall, the run was good. A portion of the run, however, was on a trail through the woods that included two very vertical hills. Everybody was walking them, but I kept on chugging (old muscle memory from running 5ks during cross country in high school- you NEVER walk!) Didn't drink at all from the water stations, which I thought worked fine (didn't need it.)
What would you do differently?:

I did have a lot of kick at the end, so I bet I could have run sub-8s if I pushed harder.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training for a longer distance race instead of doing speedwork.

Event comments:

Fun race, but I am definitely not a sprint girl. Bring me my half ironmans!

Nice work. Would it suffice to say your bike time includes T1 and T2, since they apparently recorded your time coming out of the water and coming off the bike, but no other splits in between?

Good job on the AG placement .

Good job!  That bike time must've included transitions.

Yawn. Another race, another podium finish. Maybe it's time for you to find another sport to dominate. You've clearly mastered this one.

(Seriously, great job. The bike speed has to be 'cause they're including transition time in the bike split).

Hah, I'm an idiot.  CLEARLY the bike time included transitions.  Thanks everyone for pointing that one out.  Can I blame it on lack of oxygen to the brain?  Or my hair color?

Nice job on the AG placement!  I think our race times included transitions.  I don't remember a swim-out time mat.  Bike in there was another mat, but then not one for run-out, so run time included T2.  Anyhoo...a fun course and beautiful day.  I'm with you, though - I prefer longer course now.  By the time I'm warmed up, the race is over!

Nice job.  The swim drove me a little crazy as well.  I think they should try to space waves out more so the second half doens't become a parking lot.

Hair color, but I digress....j/k.

Great job out there! You love the glorified training days. I'm looking forward to seeing how you dominate the HIM!

Maybe if you uncover your eyes and look where you're going, you'd see the timing mats??  Just a thought.....As Jonah pointed out, YAWN...congrats on the hardware!
