I'm entering the mindset that (to paraphrase Blazing Saddles), "We don't need no stinkin' wetsuits!"   C'mon, peeps, if I can swim an oly sans neoprene, I can certainly swim the HIM.  It's really not that much farther.  Plus, I'm relatively not the best swimmer out there, so y'all can do it, too.  Look at it this way, your T1 times will be much faster. (I'm still packing my wetsuit, though).

Yeah, but look at those lows and low humidity.  That'd be sweet.

Exactly my thoughts!  Maybe it'll stay in the 60s until 1pm, spike up to 90 for a few minutes, and come right back down?  Hey, it's TX... it could happen!

Sorry to burst your bubble...but that is the % chance of rain, not the humidity level!

Hydrate well next week and bring plenty of sunscreen and salt tablets.  It's going to be steamy, especially on that run course and in that water.

Hey Keith...

OK, maybe a stupid paranoid question but...I know there has been some issues this summer with amoeba that killed some people in the Texas and Florida lakes.  I know this was an issue for the Disney tri and there has been some issues at lake LBJ in Texas.  OK, tell me I am being paranoid and the lake in Austin is free and clear of this.

I know...just being paranoid!

I doubt there are any issues in Decker Lake beyond the normal Power Plant discharge and run-off that comes from the plant.  That's why it so warm

There have been 2 cases of Amoebic Meningitis this summer, at Lake LBJ. It's extremely rare, considering the numbers of swimmers that have been swimming in Texas lakes. There are no postings at Walter E. Long Park about it. That said, if it makes you feel more comfortable, wear a noseclip.

I try not to sensationalize this, and cause increased worry about this. I'd guess I'd say that there is always some inherent risk in swimming in any body of water. But, if you'd prefer to take a precaution against Ameobic Meningitis, wear a noseclip...I guess we'd have to mention, that it's always swim at your own risk....

My boyfriend and I came up with the perfect solution. Send some rats swimming in the lake this week. Then have them on display next Saturday. If they aren't dead... WE SWIM!

HA!

yeah I'll be hosed if it rains.  In Florida it is either a torrential dourpour where its near white out conditions or sunny.  Nothing in between.  I have little experience riding in the rain.

I just saw 30% chance on weather.com.  I think it's too early to say.  I don't think the weather people even know what's going to happen tomorrow.  If you do go by weather.com, the temps are foinf to in the mid 70's for a high.  Now that would be great!

My, how quickly a forecast can change! Yesterday, it said 10% chance of rain, at 2pm today it was up to 60%, now it's back down to 30%. I guess we can only wait and see! At least the forecast highs look oh, so nice!

RIGHT???!!!!!

The only time I rode in the rain, I had NO BRAKES. Look, that scares me to know that I can't stop. So, I go really slow. That works if you aren't going DOWN a hill.

All I know is that I'm packing garbage bags in my tri bag. I can bag up all my T1 and T2 stuff so it doesn't get soaking wet... if the rain starts and stops.
