Pre-race routine:

Visiting with my family, having a few laughs and trying not to get too nervous!
Event warmup:

Well...got into the water to check the seal on my goggles and do a little warmup and then, to my dismay the starter guy said "go" before anybody was even in the water. I guess that gave me an added advantage since I was already in the water.

It was the 50th anniversary of this race. Very cool. And it was a fantastic day for me. I came, I swam, and I finished. Last year was a total disaster. I had severe anxiety issues with OWS and I didn't finsh the race. I think that I got about 200m and that was it. I was gutted and vowed to return and kick some serious azz. I don't know how much azz kickin' I did, but I sure conquerd my fears. It was awesome having my wonderful hubby, parents and aunt & uncle there to watch. A fantastic day!

Wow, am I ever late with this one!  Great job on the swim though!  I know exactly how you felt on the swim, my first one lasted maybe 50 feet and I freaked out.  Very happy to hear that you beat it.  Good job on cheating and getting ahead of everyone!
