Hey everyone!

So this wraps up another great season of triathlon (well for me the first). I hope everyone was successful with all of their goals, and are just itching to train throughout the winter!

Anyways, what is everyone's plan for the off-season? I was supposed to be running races (half marathon this weekend, half marathon on the Thanksgiving weekend), but I found out on Wednesday that I either have multiple micro-tears in one of my calf muscles, or flat out ruptured one of them.

Either way, I'm out for a minimum of 4 weeks.

Hope everything is well with everyone!
Derek

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Hope you take the month off and spoil yourself!

Off-season?

J/K. A couple marathons and learn how to ride a bike for real.

I am going to be going harder than ever in the off season, I am getting my hernia that is 3 years old operated on hopefully in the next few months.  I'll be down for 2 months minimum and might go a bit insane.  I'll have to lock up my bike, indoor trainer, wetsuit, swim shorts and everyhting else that might damage my recovery.  I'm an idiot.  Hope everyone else has a good productive off season, we'll see you when the rain stops!  Maybe we can all get togother for a BT Beer & Nacho night?

Derek that sucks! Hope all goes well with the recovery though. I guess there are a lot worse times for that to happen, eh?

Off season for me is: marathon on Thanksgiving weekend (my first!! Yay!). Probably a few other easy running races in there (NS Trail race end of Oct, maybe H2H Relay again, First Half?) and then time on the trainer and time in the pool with a few coaching sessions.

Take care and give yourself proper time to heal!!

I'll be on the trainer, treadmill, and in the pool all winter, and available for Anton's Pasta on Hastings after work or for lunch, mon to fri!!!

Still have a couple of races to do, the Royal Victoria Marathon on Oct.7th and possibly the Shawnigan lake half Marathon on Oct.28th. After that a couple of easy weeks where I will kick back and take it easy, then begin base training in preperation for a good year(hopefully). Will use my down time to evaluate how this year went and set some new goals for next year. Hope everyone is doing well.

Wow really sorry to hear about that Hernia Chris

One of my best friends just dropped out of basic training for some military special forces squad due to a hernia. Apparently it was part of his intestine coming through his ab muscles, and they couldn't operate as it was far too small, so he has to work out his abs until it is large enough to operate on!

You must be happy it's finally getting taken care of, especially after 3 years! Who knows, maybe it was only letting 50% of your power get through, and you'll be a TANK after your two months off

Jon, if you are doing the Royal Victoria Marathon, I am in Victoria for Thanksgiving visiting my family, so I may come down and watch, so maybe we'll finally get the chance to meet!

As for beer/nacho night/lower mainland wrap-up, I LOVE the idea!

Michael, maybe I'll have the chance to meet you on the Thanksgiving weekend as well, as I'll be there purely spectating, since I can't run

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE RACING IN THE NEAR FUTURE!
Talk to you all soon!
