Comments:

Great day for a run. I went today w/ a goal of running w/o a goal. Just to try and keep a comfortably strong pace. Every time that I would look at the Garmin I was about a 8:17 and felt good, HR was hovering in the 160-165 range, but didn't feel stressed. Figured I would just listen to my body until about mile 8 then see what I may be able to pull out depending on how I felt. Took gel at start then at mile 4, 7, 10.5 w/ water at every stop. Felt great and thought I might be able to break 1:50 but then mile 11 hit and a hill I hadn't expected. It wasn't much of a hill, but I didn't have anything left in the tank so I pushed through and tried for a PB. I must say that the miles ticked away super quick and I was able to concentrate well on form and running a smart race.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I am very happy with both my physical and mental effort.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a massage and some grub. Met up with others who had done the race. A friend of mine came in 3rd in her AG w/ a time of 1:30 and change. Flying!!!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of specific training.

Event comments:

I like the new course and would think about doing the full here in the future.

Great job.  I wasn't expecting the hill at 11 either, but I really liked the new course.
