Total Time = 56m 45s
Overall Rank = 2/26
Age Group = all females
Age Group Rank = 1/13
Pre-race routine:

I had originally registered for the reverse tri but I've done 4 reverse tris in the past year, 2 of them at this race and I just dont enjoy the swim at the end. I've never done a DU, so decided to switch and give it a go.
Caravaned down to the race site with some friends from the tri club. Got a good spot on the first rack closest to the bike exit- that never happens! :)
Event warmup:

The kids tri was first, watched some of my friends kids do the race. Met up with my family and Tanya (standswithfist) and her family. It was chilly so just did some jogging and stretching. My calves felt really tight from PT.
Run
  • 12m 50s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Great run for me. I wasnt feeling fast, so I was surprised that i could keep a good pace. Beat my time from April by about 40 seconds. Came in 4th woman on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This is about as fast as I can run just now.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition times included in bike time.
Bike
  • 34m 57s
  • 13 miles
  • 22.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt great on the bike. Legs were nice and warmed up after the run. I passed the girl in front of me after the first lap of the bike course and then got passed by another lady, so I still came in 4th woman off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. My goal was to average over 20mph on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Included in bike time. Most people were doing the reverse tri and heading to the pool, I headed out on the run and heard someone yelling "SALLY YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY" I look back to see my friends husband waving frantically at me (he didnt know I was doing the DU and thought I'd got lost on the way to the pool, LOL).
Run
  • 08m 58s
  • 1.25 miles
  • 07m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

The 2nd run was a bit lonely, I started catching up to a guy in front of me and finally got right up to him at the end. The finish is tough because we had to come into the pool area and cross the same timing mat as the swimmers- it was slippery and crowded.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing- felt good on the 2nd run too.
Post race
Warm down:

I watched my friends finish the tri, felt happy that I wasnt in the water!. Tanya rocked as usual and saw 3 friends complete their very first tri. Grabbed a donut before they were all gone. Wanted to stay for the results/awards but they were delayed and I had to get home to get ready for T-giving.
OK- I have to take a moment out to talk about the strangest thing I have ever seen at a Tri. There was a couple with a baby who did the whole thing with the baby- ran with the jogging stroller, pulled him in a bike trailer and I kid you not- the baby held onto their backs for the swim- they traded him off. It was insane and the kid was smiling the whole time!

Event comments:

Fun race for the holiday.

Course: Out and back on the gravel path with 2 trips down into the dried up canal- loose rocks made it tricky to get in and out of. The run was a bit longer than advertised probably because of the detour into the canal due to construction on the path.

First place. Fantastic. Did you get a trophy?

Your times are great. The baby thing sounds mental, you definitely get a weird picture in your head of a baby sitting on the parents back like it's riding a horse.

I also quite like the sound of a back to front triathlon. I guess the swim stage could get quite messy though.

Yeah, I might suggest that Duathlons suit you well

Your split times are awesome and I bet it was a bit lonely at the front of the pack.

I bet you had a nice story to tell over dinner. (Oh, I just went out and won a race this morning, and this turkey is just part of my post race recovery)

Good On Ya
