Overall Rank = 68/258
Age Group = Female 50-59
Age Group Rank = 3/8
Pre-race routine:

I skipped the usual oatmeal and went with an English muffin and coffee this morning. The temp was only 6 degrees at 8:00 a.m. so I debated whether to blow this race off. Finally showered and decided to bite the bullet and go rather than risk being called a sissy girl ... cuz I ain't.
Event warmup:

I kept moving. Jogging, jumping, short sprints. It was too cold to stand still.

Comments:

This is the race that's uphill both ways! The first half is a steady incline and the second half is rollers. The sun came out and it actually ended up being a nice run. It snowed all day yesterday. The whole course was covered, some packed hard, some fresh, and some ice. Yak Trax definitely saved the day. I was hoping to be faster than last year and I was. By ONE second! This year I came in 68/258 which puts me at the 26% mark. Last year I came in 87/197 which was 44% (on dry pavement). Big percentage difference for only 1 second!

Event comments:

Lots of BT people doing the race but I only ran into Beka66 and AndriaLL. I looked for skarl but we never found each other even though we knew exactly what kind of hat we'd each be wearing. I just looked at the finishing times for the BT crew that have logged their race reports and we have some awesome runners in this group. That means there's still hope for me!

One other observation on my part. I'm finding I like the longer distance runs. I feel like I never quite reach my happy place in a 5K. Anyone else like that?

Hey congrats on that one second improvement!  That's cool.  I never saw you today!  Of course we were all so bundled up, not sure I would have recognized you!

Great job on the race!! And nice improvement on your placing.

One could argue that technically there shouldn't be a happy place with a 5k because if you're running it right, you'll be working in high gear the whole time. So it should hurt at least a little...

It sounds like you must be right on track then!

See....there were more than 3 in your age group!

I just realized what it meant to make my race report public--and I'm a little embarrassed since I can't even run yet (i.e. please don't read it--I WILL be much faster in time)

It was great to meet you today, Becky. I've heard alot about you and am glad you decided to show today. Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Great job on getting out there in the cold!  I'm a fan of running long too, but mostly I hate trying to go fast (it hurts), so I totally agree with you.

Congrats on your improvements!

Congrats on getting up and out the door in the cold (we know you're not a sissy girl... just sassy, of course ) AND on finishing 3rd in your AG!
