  • Comments: Good race day! I was disappointed that only the top 30 or so of the International course was printed/posted at the event. Had to wait to see the results on-line a couple days later. Oh well - me and my 1st world problems. http://www.frontrunnerusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/stpaultrii...

  • Comments: It was good to get out and participate. It was a fun day outside with the guys. It was very inspiring to see so many people out there kicking major butt. I'm looking forward to doing my first individual sprint tri at some point.

  • Comments: There were plenty of volunteers and Randy is always very enthusiasic. However he is not the most organized for an event. I am not complaining. I had fun and a race is always good, as long as people dont get hurt and everyone is on the same "playing field". SO this was fun and if it fits in the calendar next year, then i will be back.

  • Comments: overall the race it self was good. the past race food was worthless. (chex mix, gardettos, and muscle milk) the results and awards were very haphazardly done.

  • Comments: Oh, to top off a wonderful day, as I'm sitting with Jeff (@jvanis) at the awards and the last prize the Gear West gear bag was up for grabs and they called out "4 9 4" I look at my arm and remember that I'm 493... Sweet I ran up there and collected my swag. Way cool day and it was a pretty much unplanned event! Thanks to Dan (@silentcs42) for convincing me to do it!!!

  • Comments: This race wasn't as well organized as the others I've done. I somewhat expected that, and so it didn't come as a huge surprise. However, the most annoying thing about it is that both the run and bike distances were noticeably shorter than advertised. Consequently, even if my race had gone flawlessly, I wouldn't have had any ability to compare it to my other races to really evaluate whether I'm improving. Since that's the main reason I race - to see where I'm at - this race isn't for me. I have no idea why they don't get the distances right, how hard can that be? I left the race pretty annoyed that they couldn't at least get the distances correct.

  • Comments: Wheelock Parkway is just getting too rough to ride a race on. There needs to be more water available for the people who come in at the end and really need some water. I love St. Paul and I want to do this race again but I hope Wheelock gets fixed up for next year. The St. Paul Police were great! They truely are the best in the business. They stood out in the heat in full uniform to stop traffic and keep the route as safe as possible. Thanks.

  • Comments: So, this race was a disappointing performance for me, but I have no one to blame but myself. I would say that I'll do better next year except that I doubt I'll do this race next year for a number of reasons. There are some good things about this race (low race fee, convenient location), but there are some definite drawbacks as well: -road surface on the bike is awful; very bumpy -not even close to enough racks for all the racers -not even close to enough port-a-johns -not even close to enough post-race snacks/drinks I know Vacation Sports events are lower key than most and that is fine, but not being able to cover the basic needs of the race is a problem. I've raced this course twice now and volunteered once and all three times it's been the same story. So next year I think I'll find an oly at a different venue and see if I can't do a little better. :)

  • Comments: I've read lots of comments about this RD so my expectations were adjusted accordingly. Overall I thought it was a decent race. Post race food/drink were really weak and I thought the run could have used 1 more aid station. I'd probably do the race again just because it's local and I love being home by 11AM on race day.

  • Comments: I don't think we'll do this one again. The organization wasn't awful, but the lack of water on the run and at the finish was a problem. Although there were tons of volunteers, many didn't have a clue what was going on. And the bike course was crap. That was the deciding factor.

  • Comments: Yet again, another Vacation Sports event I didn't enjoy. Will I learn my lesson? They really need to start earlier, knowing it will be hot in August almost surely. I wish I could start earlier, but such is the fate of a non-Elite female doing an Oly. Always last to go. Volunteers at these events are the BEST. Beyond that they needed another water stop with COLD water please and more cups.

  • Comments: I have done some other races that have had alot better post race activities. Alot of people left the race site before the awards since it was misting/raining. I stuck around because I needed to get my boat out of the water. I was hoping to win the bike, but I didn't win. I would do this race again, and will be looking at doing some Olympic length events next year. My sister is talking about doing a Half Ironman next year. I may join her.

  • Comments: Overall this race was a success since the goal was to finish, and I did. I also finished in under 3 hours, which was nice. I was worried I'd be DFL, but I wasn't, although I was close in my AG. :) It's funny that last week I was thrilled to be 4th in my AG (out of 15), and this week 5th (out of 7) is kind of disappointing. But hey, I finished, and I'm glad for that! I really wish it had been a more pleasant day from a weather standpoint, but what can you do? At least it really kept me from overheating, right? There were 700+ people in this race, but only 117 did the long course. So most of the racers and spectators were long gone by the time some of us slower long course people finished, and that was a new experience for me. Not that anyone can blame people for leaving, especially given the weather, but I'm just not used to it being so deserted at the end of a race. Maybe I was just really noticing it because none of my family was there. :( Anyway, it was a pretty good race overall.

  • Comments: The race was good, but the pre/post activities were lacking. Also, there was limited food/snacks during the running part. Also, the T-Shirt was belowed expectations in terms of quality.

  • Comments: Overall, I was happy with the race. I was a bit worried about the organization, but they pulled it off. The swim was really good, despite the deflated bouys. Bike course was well protected by local police (thanks, Ramsey County Sheriff and St. Paul Police). Run course was nice. Overall, a very well nice race day. Kudos to whomever was in charge of the weather department! Unfortunately, I won't be participating next year, since I'll be two weeks out from Ironman Wisconsin!

  • Comments: the race org didn't list overall results - just overall women and overall men, so for the purposes of this report, i used overall women since it was much easier figuring out my placement for each event. my actual overall was 88/138 (103 men, 35 women - no wonder guys kept passing me on the bike!). i raced as an athena and won 1st (out of 2, but hey, its still 1st!)! at the race they had me in both ag 30-35 and athena for some reason and didn't bat an eye when i won twice! 1st place athena and 2nd in ag. plus everyone had a finisher's medal, so this was a hardware heavy race for me! there were LOTS of people from the county cycle tri team. one woman won the short course, another won 1st in her age group, and her husband won 2nd in his ag for the short. for the long, another team mate won his ag. so, we had a great performance at this race! 6 trophies in all! :) winning athena and 2nd in my age group was a GREAT way to end this season. i still have a duathlon and a few running races, but
