  • Comments: Overall it was a really good race. The location is rather far, but it lends itself to few cars on the course. The swim course was hard to navigate, but good. A defined swim exit would have been nice. It was kind of hard to tell exactly where the exit was. The bike course was nice and would have been better minus the chip seal. The portions that were smooth were really nice though! The run course was really nice in some portions. I liked running through the park under the trees. It had some nice down hills and some up hills. The portion on the road was not good. It was chip seal (I felt through my shoes) and along a busy highway, which was odd. But they did the best they could do with what the had to work with. Overall a good race. I might go back and do it again next year. I have to say, giving out medals 10 deep in each AG really sold me! I was 10th, so I got a medal! My second one ever. The first one was for my HIM and everyone who finished got a medal there. I'm

  • Comments: I'm now debating on whether or not to just go back to clydes. I've been busting my butt to get my weight down, losing muscle along the way, to see if I can be more competitive in my AG. I thought for sure my time would have placed me higher than 14th, given that the TMan 5th place finisher for 2007 was a little under 02:24:00. Oh well... I try to really suck it up, or I focus on putting my muscle mass back on and race clydes. I'm at 189

  • Comments: Very good but we did not start on time - the sprint went first then the OLY. The Sprint was about 10 minutes late. They did have me in the wrong class but no big deal. Pleased with the swim and now I know what to really work on for the Longhorn.

  • Comments: this is by far the most mental effort i have had to put into a race to get to the finish line. (more than the cowtown marathon) The humidity absolutely was horrible. There needed to be more drink stations along the way. When I crossed the finish line apparently i looked pretty bad. A race volunteer and Andy brought me back to some shade and helped me get some fluid down. Then Steve, Shannon, and others that i just don't remember(sorry folks i just don't remember much) pitched in and helped me with water, electrolyte pills, vitamin water, you name it. Thank you all, this is what makes this forum and sport great. As for the race I know DA went through a ton of grief to even have a race so, I'm glad they put it on. I do however wish there would have been more opportunities for water / accelerade along the run. That would have helped some. Another item that would have helped is if the run would have been along the park road opposed to back with al of the moist ground and vegitation that

  • Comments: Overall, it was a good event and the staff and volunteers worked hard. I missed the swim (really!) but understand and appreciate why it was cancelled. They could have used more port-a-potties. I second DodgersMom - they should have moved the turn drink station to somewhere where we could have hit it twice.

  • Comments: I know DA had a lot to deal with. It's certainly not their fault that the lakes could not be used. But, I am not sure what's going on with them latley. Seems like their races have been getting less and less organized. At Texas Woman we did not even have timing chips. I know this may sound petty, but the quality of their race shirts is even cheap. I have never waited so long to pee in my life. 10 porta potties for 600 racers is not enough. There was also a lot of confusion as to start times. The Oly was supposed to go off at 7, and the sprint at 7:30. The Oly ended up going off at about 15 after and then, a minute later, they sent the sprint athletes off. So, the women Oly racers were being run over by the sprint men in about 30 seconds. Those guys don't care who they trample over to get ahead. The lack of aid stations on the run was a real problem too. All they had to do was move the station at the 10K turnaround 1/2 a mile before the end. This way, we could hit it twice.

  • Comments: Overall, a fun race but was disorganized at the start and could have used at least one more aid station on the run course!
