  • Comments: The volunteers were great. THANK YOU!!! Where there were spectators, they were full of enthusiasm. We also had our names on our bibs, so we were encouraged often.

  • Comments: I was so excited about this race, it was my first marathon. I felt the few miles I put in weekly would be enough since running has always come easy for me. But, I didn't anticipate my body suffering a knee injury. Finishing was VERY emotional. Even through the pain, I couldn't wait to do another one!

  • Comments: My only critique of the race was the post-race food. Even though I was a reasonably early 26.2 finisher, all the fruit was gone by the time I got there, and all they had was greasy breakfast food (sausage, eggs, gravy, etc.).

  • Comments: A very fun race. The crowd made it so special as it was much easier to keep running when there's always people on the sidelines cheering you on, half of them in costumes and crazy get-ups. It really helped the miles fly by. Where are those people when we're on our training runs?

  • Comments: I'm not sure I'll do Vancouver this year, it's probably pushing it with having to train for the LoneStar at the end of March. But, I will most definitely do another marathon. I never thought I would even consider running a marathon, nevermind find it marathon fun and be anxious to try another!

  • Comments: Although I have a little bit of disappointed in my time on this race...this was my first marathon and I'm elated that I was able to finish. 2 years ago I was 60 lbs heavier and had hardly exercised. I am now a triathlete and a marathoner that still has plenty of room to improve. I am 75% sure that I'll do another marathon and will likely do the Houston one again.

  • Comments: This is a super fun and friendly marathon. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to run a fast course with a lot of people. It was very well run and efficient and the 2009 registration has already opened!

  • Comments: Race was organized great. Tons of spectators, tons of drink and medic tents. Great pre race communication from Race officials. Tons of emails, maps, faq's, etc. I would totally recommend this race to anyone looking for a fun Mary.

  • Comments: Goal was 5 hours or less. I started my Garmin under the start banner and stopped it under the finish banner. It showed our chip time of 5 hours 21 minutes. Bonnie did the same thing, but stopped hers at all the stops, hers showed 4 hours 57 minutes. So we had less than 5 hours of run time!!! We went to Celeste's home for the post party, but most everyone was gone already. Thanks to Celeste for still letting us come over and for feeding us and thanks to Lisa for sticking around!!

  • Comments: My only complaint was the finisher shirt. We worked hard and the shirt is two sizes too big, that was very disappointing. The race was very well organized, the volunteers couldn't have been better, I love the course and the scenery. The expo was really good, too. Our kids had such a great time at the Kid's fun run on Saturday, too!

  • Comments: I ran with this one woman for a couple of miles who was pretty nice. She said that she had qualified for Boston last month running the White Rock in Dallas, and admitted to me that she was running the Houston wearing a friend's bib since her friend had gotten sick. However, she said that she'd probably make the qualifying time her friend needed to qualify for Boston and her friend might run it as well. At the time I didn't think much of it, but it struck as highly dishonest for her friend to possibly run Boston in this manner as she never really qualified for it. Personally, I think you're just cheating yourself by saying you got to run in Boston but you never really qualified. What do you all think? I know this woman's name, do you think I should turn her in?

  • Comments: Very good organization and volunteers. Everything was well marked and there was plenty of room, so the crowding was not bad at all.
