  • Comments: Great fun race, friendly racers and volunteers. A good choice for your first. A bit hilly. Bouncy house for the kids and some vendors and music.

  • Comments: YMCA was supposed to be open at 5;30. It was not, so missed opportunity to swim pre-race due to waiting in line for bathroom.

  • Comments: This is a great race for beginners! No open water (though pool swims have their disadvantages.) Course is not too hard, but does have small hills. No testosterone to get in the way on the course, and all-male volunteers make it fun. I don't know about post-race because we left due to rain, but no complaints.

  • Comments: I wasn't jazzed about an all-woman race, but found it to be really quite nice. More so than the all-male volunteer crew, the cool part was the "You go girl" that you got from all the other competitors.

  • Comments: I loved the girls only aspect of the race, great atmosphere. The snake swim is chaos and the race folks tried to keep it as organized as they could considering they're herding nearly 500 women. Overall the volunteers were great, and the finish festival was darn good considering it's a fairly small event. I hope they figure out how to organize a better packet pick-up. There's no need to wait in line for 20-30 minutes in the hot sun to pick up your packet for a race with only 500 participants.

  • Comments: A great celebration of the female spirit! Loved how friendly everyone was before, during and after the race. I enjoyed being cheered on and cheering others through out the race. Overall, a terrific experience. Just what I was expecting nice, fun, competitive, but mostly inspiring!

  • Comments: Great event. Inaugural year. I highly recommend it, especially for first timers, like me. Lots of love, not a whole lot of gritty competition. Cute t-shirts and towels (although the large t-shirt isn't) and a nice area, once you get past the traffic on 95 South.

  • Comments: Race staff, volunteers, other athletes -- so supportive. I will definitely race in Richmond again (2 hours away for me, but the inlaws live here, so I have built-in child care). I'm just bitter enough at coming in next-to-last that I think I'm going to do the Napier Realtor Sprint in October with the husband.

  • Comments: I had a blast and will do this one next year, if not just to PR the course. Also, not nearly as physically exhausting as the Tavern. I got right back into training no prob the next day.
