  • Comments: I still would rather do most other races than this, but it's a great chance to meet a bunch of local friends. After the awards, we went to Wild Wing with friends for some wings, beers, race stories, and general unwinding. That was, by far, the best part of the race day!

  • Comments: I still love Clemson - it was my second year doing this race. The reason I gave the "lots of volunteers to help" question a no is because they were letting people through registration ONE PERSON AT A TIME. It was a freaking nightmare at the beginning. Bad on their part. Other than that, there were plenty of volunteers, but not exactly in the right places. Also, they played the national anthem AFTER the junior elites were already rounding the first buoy. That was kind of odd. Just a note that I will definitely do this race next year, if I can. The race shirts were way cool this year! And the course is just - to me - a fun one to start the year with. It felt good to do this race.

  • Comments: I can't comment on the post race activities, because after my cool down run, I left to go to my daughter's dance recital an hour away from the race that started at noon. This course is always challenging. It is short, hilly and mentally a humdinger. I believe I can achieve a 1:10 on this course. That is what I was gunning for. So that is why I am disappointed with my 1:13 even though I placed 2nd in my age group and 21st overall. The female winner, btw, is a professional triathlete from Austria who finished 9th overall at IMAZ this year. This is a deep-fielded race. I am just disappointed that I did not perform to my potential during it.

  • Comments: Not a great performance. I was tired and couldn't count it towards a good result but I was glad I raced it and did learn something along the way.

  • Comments: I think this was a good race, but WAY faster than any of us expected. It was supposed to be my first tri last year, but I was scared that the swim was too long. I think that’s funny now!! I would do this race again, but really only if it fit in my schedule nicely…it’s not an automatic repeat. The t-shirts were super lame in my opinion and sometimes that’s half the fun- getting a new t-shirt. Plus, they were out of XL’s when Kraig tried to get his shirt….poor planning. Otherwise, I don’t have many complaints. Good turkey chili at the finish, that was different!

  • Comments: Ya know, I will beat myself up because I thought I could just go out and perform great without having done this before....BUT this was the first one I had done... ever. So, based on my time, I can only go up from here...:). Event was handled great. I think I have been bitten by the tri bug. I did lose a $300 watch though. A garmin 305...anyone see it ...please let me know.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race, despite various problems. They had tons of volunteers - who even cleaned up the cups on the 5K course (it was getting kind of messy). The website isn't quite honest on the amount of hills on the run portion, but that's a matter of perspective. It was great. I'm looking forward to next year already. Oh, and they gave us socks in our goody bags. How cool is that?

  • Comments: I loved the course, I certainly enjoy the hills better then a flat course like Parris Island. Will do again next year.

  • Comments: Clemson is a deep fielded race. When I saw my overall finish at the site, I was ok with it because I did drop two minutes from my time last year. I know this is an incredibly competivie field. But when I saw my run time, I was upset. I KNOW I can do better than that. It was a huge opportunity to move up in the rankings if I had just put in an average run performance for myself. But that was all I could do today. I know in my heart that I raced as fast as I could today. My poor body just needs a little rest. So I am pleased with my effort and very happy that I improved my overall time from last year.

  • Comments: I think I like doing triathlons. I have always played sports that I could physically slow or change the way my opponents played to give me an advantage, but this is all on me. The first 2 races I did I finished in the 59% and this one I was 56% so I guess I'm getting better. There were some strong Clydesdales at this race so I'm assuming that the level of most of the racers were a little higher on this one. I looked for but didn't see anybody that post on this web site. Hopefully I'll see some of you at Lake Murray.

  • Comments: Stayed to watch the awards because I needed my coach to carry me back to my poor little car. Realized that if I had raced as a novice (which would have been reasonable considering this was just my 2nd tri- last year I did one tri and one du)I would have come in 2nd place. CRAP. I guess that's why they say hindsight is 20/20. I was pleased to have finished in the top half of women, even if I was in the bottom half of my age group. It's a very competitive age group. After all, Barqhead is in it!! And she's MUCHO FAST!

  • Comments: Good challenging race. Good course to "race". Well organized and competitive field. Liked the collegiate presence and, being a dawg, loved seeing the UGA tri club out there en masse. No overall or age group results were posted - that and having them in a spreadsheet would have been nice.

  • Comments: I took second in my age group. Last year, I didn't place. I reduced my time from last year by nearly 6 minutes. I'm very, very happy with my run. Definately need to practice open water swimming a lot more before my oly in June.
