  • Comments: This was truly a national or international quality race, 40k+ runners, a TON of volunteers. Never ran out of anything at the aid stations, and had live entertainment (local rock bands) about every 1/2 - 3/4 miles. Truely first rate, and fun to run on the Speedway track.

  • Comments: My rank for the female division was: 13,053 out of 15,736 ! (I think this is cool). I slowly walked 98% of mile 12... which had a pretty negative affect on my overall time... but my body made that happen... i recovered and bounced back to run in mi 13.1 This was fun and emotional. I balled after I crossed the finish line and pre-race just for making it there. Had a great moment in telling some little boy that he should never let anyone tell him he can't do anything. :)

  • Comments: I'd give this race a much higher ranking if they could limit the size or figure out a way to thin the crowd on the course.

  • Comments: The organization was good, but it was more of a circus then a race. It was definately geared towards slower runners and walkers...the crowd that wanted to experience a socal event and not actually race. The course itself was nothing special. It was routed on major city streets through bad areas of town. If you like looking at run down homes and buildings, then this race is for you. You did get to run a lap around the speedway, which was very cool, but not as much as you would think. The straights are horribly long and you have to do them twice. I can't stand running on a 400m track... Imagine running on a 2.5 mile one. Other then that, the only cool things to run past were the government buildings within the first and last .25 mile. The rest is junk. They also had bands all along the course. Most of the time you just heard one band merging with another and most of the bands sucked. They were honestly more annoying then entertaining and did a good job of distracting me.

  • Comments: The sheer size of this race will keep me from ever running this again. I think that it was a pretty course. Running on the track was cool. Tons of entertainment! I didn't miss my ipod one bit! It was very organized, lots of volunteers. I can see why this race sells out before 12/1 every year! Crowds just aren't my thing.

  • Comments: I don't know what happened with the timing. My GPS deal got to 13.11 miles in 1:32:40. I'm pretty sure that my timer said 1:32:45 when I crossed the line, but I mis-hit the stop button. But when I did stop it for good well after the finish it was still at 1:33 something. But they somehow had me at 1:33:36. In any case, I did slightly better than last year. But I could have done better--I had a little too much left at the end.

  • Comments: This is a good race and with the musicians on every corner and the 17 water stations over the 13 miles and the 35,000 other runners you are always around people and it makes the 13 miles go by pretty fast. I am doing this next year and hopefully just as pleased next year. 27,642 finishers: 14,337 females: 13,305 Males: Average time 2:26.57 Winner Ben Kimondiu Kenya 1:03:21 Female winner Lucie Mays-Sulemski Indiana 1:19.38 5382/26,642 overall finishers 781/2082 Age Groug 4259/13,305 male finishers
