  • Comments: In 2007, this was my first tri. I've since moved to San Francisco, but made the trip east because I just love this one. Lots of sentimental value too because I grew up nearby and my folks can come out and watch. Anyway, a great time. Already looking forward to 2009.

  • Comments: I am rating all my segments and transitions as "good" because for me to just finish them, that is good! Next year I will have something to compare it to and can be more selective on my overall rating! I am so grateful that I was able to participate and finish my first triathlon and raise money for Ryan's Quest (www.ryansquest.org) all at the same time. Michele and Larry organize an amazing event and I am so glad this was my first triathlon. After learning about the one competitor who did not come out of the water and lost his life, I realize that just coming home safely and having Mike coming home safely is ultimately the biggest prize and would have been the prize even if we had not finished the entire triathlon. Hopefully someday I will be able to finish before Mike and cheer him on as he crosses the finish line. I am so proud of him!

  • Comments: Wow, what an organized well run race. I guess the day before registration would be annoying but I live right next to the park so no biggie for me. Everthing started right on time and the amount of signs and volunteers were awesome not to mention the almost entirely closed bike course. Can't wait to come back and do the Olympic next year.

  • Comments: As always this race serves as the template for the way all similar races should be held. The organization, amount of volunteers, course and just overall vibe/atmosphere that is present makes this a MUST-DO triathlon for everyone. CGI also skipped the finisher medal for a cool running hat at the finish line.

  • Comments: It was a great race for my first time. It was a large race with 2 distances (olympic started after the sprint) so there were tons of racers (2500 registered). All the organizers and volunteers were wonderful and there was great support by the police and public works so the bike course felt very safe. The course is pretty flat, so that makes it perfect for a new triathlete. I definitely will consider coming back next year to see if I can improve (or maybe try the olympic distance). This was the target race for DC Tri's New Triathlete Program, so it was great to finally share the race experience with everyone from that (plus the club had over 200 people registered in the race so the support there was great...lots of "go DC Tri" on the run). I'm proud that I went to the race and finished (and wasn't DFL overall). Considering all my injuries and the fact I've had some motivation issues including a few weeks with no training as recently as 2 weeks ago, I did well. I beat my worst

  • Comments: This was my first tri and it seemed extremely well run. Such a positive vibe surrounding the entire event. I'm hooked and will return each year until I am physically incapable. Now looking forward to next season and planning out my races of which there will be a few. I just might be on my way to becoming a triathlete.

  • Comments: Well run race, water stops are well positioned, Volunteers are great, markers and signs on the Bike and Run course are accurate and visible. Sprint start early in the morning 7:30 is great so you can finish before the Sun comes out. for comparison the Olympic race goes well into the hot zone. Excellent race for 1st timers

  • Comments: Being my first triathlon I couldn't have asked for anything more. Great weather, organization, and some of the friendliest people in the world. I will definitely be back next year, hopefully ready to tackle the olympic. But overall a great day, the Redrow's did a wonderful job with everything.

  • Comments: It would be rated a 5 but the packet pick up the day before is a big pain in the neck. I live 1 1/2 hrs. away and to drive 3 hrs. 2 days in a row is kinda crummy. Last year there was remote packet p/u from some bike shops throughout the state. I vote for that again!

  • Comments: This was an superbly organized race. It was my first, but I would love it if every subsequent one that I do is as well organized. Events started on time, TONS of volunteers, the course was well marked and everyone on the course was super friendly. Special thanks to the guy handing out the soaked cold towels on the run course. I was also surprised to see how quickly the results appeared on line. I left without knowing my overall placement and splits, and the first thing I did when I got home was to check the website for results, not thinking they'd be there - I was very surprised to see them.
