  • Comments: Very nice job by the race organizers, especially given that they were managing three tri's at the same time! The awards were very cool and original.

  • Comments: This was a well organized event and on time. No real complaints about the course, cars can't be helped on an open road but luckily it was rural so not busy at all. Plenty of food for me at the finish, but almost everything was gone when my husband finished his Olympic (ie no cookies, bananas or chocolate milk, no turkey subs and only a few ham sandwiches but he doesn't eat pork). I see this a lot when there are dual events and more participants in the shorter event, just sucks a bit for the back of the packers. I did like the snow cones & though I was in no danger of winning an award, they were very cool for both the sprint and the Oly. The custom tech shirts were nice and I like the beer glass - i don't really expect anything but a shirt at these distances. This was a travel race for us but we chose it based on availability of two distances and proximity to my family (I.e. free babysitting!) if it works in our schedule, we will likely do this, especially since its hard to find such flat

  • Comments: The new race directors have done a great job with "ramping up" this race from where it was a few years ago. Finishers pint glasses, great shirts, great post race food are all appreciated very much!

  • Comments: I thought this race was pretty fun. My only (small) complaint is that the post-race food was meat stuff, and I'm a vegetarian. Oh well. I brought my own, anyway.

  • Comments: no finisher medals at the end. they gave them out before the awards but only to those who did not get an award. i like getting the medals.some volunteer confusion for the IronAbe event that cost some people some time. post race water was hose water and not cold. water on run course was not cold either. good food at the end and awards were on time. good race, as always, will be back next year.

  • Comments: As usual, the volunteers were outstanding. After event activities and treats were top notch. Two big problems. First, the turn around for the sprint bike was directly in the middle of a long straight away for the oly event. Not safe, not cool. Second, there were no finisher medals -- a small thing, but important to me as I like the momento to keep in my office.

  • Comments: Best post-race nutrition spread! So many fresh fruits, different fluids, and plenty of "heavy" foods like pasta salads and sandwiches.

  • Comments: For my first race it was great. At the beginning, there was one guy with a portable megaphone which I could barely hear anything on. I know there was some general confusion because a girl next to me in the swim didn't know which buoy to swim to and was asking some other questions. I also was surprised at the placement of the lifeguard/boats/canoes in the water as they seemed really far off course....like if someone needed help I wasn't sure how quickly they could get there and I don't think if anyone needed to rest they could just grab on to something without swimming quite a distance to get there. That being said, it was my first tri so I don't have a lot to compare it to and everything else was well organized and the volunteers were great. I well definitely be back to do it again next year and I have my next one in 3 weeks!

  • Comments: Don't have a whole lot to base things on, so just guessing on things. The race was delayed, but not because of race things. There was a really bad accident about a mile from the start line, which re-routed the volunteers and participants (Sandi and I were by the scene before the firetrucks got there - it was a little scary). Volunteers were plenty, but were easily distracted, so sometimes not sure where we were supposed to go. Lots of food and drink afterwards, which was nice. Would have been nice if there was some sort of expo there, though... even a small one with local stuff... maybe Elkhart Lake just spoils people...

  • Comments: Great job race organizers! Awesome. Almost perfect, in fact. Other than choosing a July race date in Central Illinois, everything else went extremely well. Great, great, great job on organizing two races for the 1st time (IronAbe and Stoneman).
