  • Comments: This was a good race for newbies to do since it is short and Jack always runs a tight race. It was fun to see all the kids out there. Also a good race for us vets as a change of pace since IM and long course training can get kind of boring without some sort of break. Fun day, quick in and out race with the rest of the day to do what you want other than train/race.

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon. My goal was to just finish. I did that but I had higher expectations on the swim. I think better positioning myself for the start would have helped a lot. I've swam farther distances in the pool with less effort. Just need to settle down and focus on breathing and gliding on my strokes. Toughen my feet a little better for the pavement. OUCH... The bike portion was fine. I used my road(Training) bike which is better suited for hilly or long climb courses where power is needed. Plus I train on those in the arbuckles where climbs are 10+min each. I'm glad the run was fairly flat as I've struggled on open roads with my pace. The best I can muster is a 8:30 in the gym but on the road the conditions are different could work on turnover and efficiency. We'll see how much better I do in July on the same course!!! See Ya'll then.

  • Comments: This is a very well organized race and a good value as well ($70 versus CapTex's 120 bucks). Good course support in all three events, beautiful location, and a good mix of triathletes. The race director (Jack) was bitchy and rude to pretty much everyone around him (participants and fellow volunteers alike), but he did put on a good race so I can't complain too much. Definitely considering returning next year. What was the story with some race participant getting bit by someone's dog??

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: This was a great race and run very well, there is just not alot going on after. Not really sure what I expect but just alot of talking after. The course it pretty easy, no hills really to speak of, but it is better than being too hard.

  • Comments: Ironhead always put on a quality race. Great volunteers (so many of them!), perfectly placed aid stations, and even a water bottle hand off on the bike. Very nice! The pizza at the end is always a winner too!

  • Comments: Great race - Jack's races always are. Perfect weather, unfortunately not much shade and direct sun, but that can't be helped.

  • Comments: I hope I am not going backwards at this point in the race year. This was a terrible experience for me from a performance standpoint. Jack's races are awesome and I can't say enough how much I enjoy doing any race that he is the RD for. I was especially impressed with the motorcycle guy on the run course going up and down the Damn asking people if they were alright because of the 102 degree weather. The water stop volunteers also were incredible, suffering through that heat in black shirts! Hopefully, I either got my BAD race of the year out of the way or just had a bad day and will move on.

  • Comments: This was my second TRI, my first was the Metroplex Sprint last month. So I am learning a lot. I am a little disappointed with my run, I was off my normal 10K pace by almost 2 minutes. Keeping the big picture in mind all my paces, even the run, are in line with what my plan is for the IM Florida in Nov. I had fun, isn't that what its about??

  • Comments: For my first Oly, I guess 2:52 isn't bad. Could have...should have been 5 to 10 minutes faster. My stomach let me down. Loved the course. Guess I should get used to it. First HIM will be there in 6 weeks or so. Need to figure out what's up with my stomach before then.

  • Comments: Jack did a great job ensuring he was prepared for the heat. Lots of ice and plenty of drink stations. Food included only bagels, cookies, and eventually pizza. Gatorade and water in abundance. Smoothies were available for purchase. No realy activities (other than awards), and I think only one vendor. Really, just anther of Jack's standard, 'minimal frills but really well executed' races. There was a great BT turnout, and kudos to Sebastion for taking some BT pics.
