  • Comments: Overall this race is well done. Good system for bike drop off, aid stations well manned. The post race food was pathetic. When I finished there were only oranges and bananas. Shortly thereafter, chili arrived, but had to be heated. Who wants chili in 25C? Then, later still, they had coleslaw with either ham pieces or sausages laid on top, in cups, but no forks. Finally, a hour or so later, they had pizza ordered in. It was pretty sad.

  • Comments: Awesome race! I loved the course, it was well organized, and tons of awesome volunteers. My only problem was the awards program was 45 minutes after it was scheduled to happen. My family was starving and wanted to leave but we stuck around because they kept saying awards were about to happen.

  • Comments: This was a great race! A good size: not too big, not too small. The organizers were excellent, as were the volunteers. Smiles all the way around. I'll definitely try to do this race again.

  • Comments: I wish the race didn't go this way, but not every race is going to be perfect. I feel good about getting it done, I also realized that if I had quite the race after the crash I prbably wouldn't have been as sore the day after either. Oh well. I am also glad all my friends had a better day than I did.

  • Comments: A really lovely race. Smaller than many HIMs (about 600 participants). A gorgeous course in a lovely setting. Challenging but not crushing. Super-friendly competitors. Good swag -- cool hooded tech sweatshirt.

  • Comments: I was really happy with the outcome of the day. I wasn't really into doing it, so I didn't even start my watch. And I was shocked with my time. Overall a great day! It was great to have met bcmish, and I think that I saw Shawn out there volunteering on the bike course. And thanks to Havefun for coming out and cheering and hanging out with Darren and Matthew for the day.

  • Comments: I was thrilled with this race as my original goal had been to finish under 7 hours, and then after some training I had personally lowered it to 6:45 (I didn't tell my coach that though...). Before the weekend I had set my "out of my mind happy" time to 6:36, but didn't really believe that I could do that... :) :) :) I am so excited about moving on to the full ironman distance... next year it's back to being the supportive wife so my hubby has a chance to train, but in 2010 - Ironman Canada - you're all mine!

  • Comments: I had no idea what to expect at this race, and I have definitely identified a few things to work on before Ironman. Also, I felt like weird things were constantly happening that I had to deal with (e.g., swim argument, going off course, messy transitions, nutrition problems), and though I don't think I always made the right decision, I do think I maintained a good attitude and I did a good job of dealing with the problem and moving on. I have also learned how to stay in the moment while racing and to keep the positive self-talk flowing. Overall, it was a strange and painful, yet informative, race experience. And I am SO glad it's done! :-)

  • Comments: Just found out that this will be the last year Norm Thibault puts on this race. He does a killer job so it is sad to see him go, hopefully the next director does just as good a job as Norm. And the volunteers and spectators were fantastic as always.

  • Comments: I was a little ticked that they changed the bike such that it was considerably shorter then a true half iron but it was still a good race. Based on this race and my paces it is about equivalent to around a 5:08 - 5:12 actual distance half iron taking into account the longer distance would have slowed me down even a little more. I'm really happy with that as it is my first crack at the longer stuff. My goal was sub 5:30 half and I think that I would have beat that easily.
