  • Comments: Honestly, if the course wasn't so appealing and the venue right outside my back door. I'd really consider not doing this race anymore. Over the years, it's gotten so crowded, and the number of novice racers it attracts has made it downright dangerous on the bike leg. I swear, it was like they told the slowest riders to ride as far to the left as possible and I had to take a number of chances just to maintain my pace while passing people. In addition, organizers really need to secure the transition area and make sure racers are matched to a bike number when leaving transition after the race. As an additional flaw this year, they didn't have any mileage markers on the course. If I hadn't already known the course so well, I wouldn't have had a clue where I was throughout the race.

  • Comments: What a great way to celebrate life. This was more than just a race for me (see my blog from Saturday). I'm very humbled by all the great people I've met!

  • Comments: Probably would not do this race again for a couple of reasons. Very unsecure transition area and way to many people for the amount of space they had. Not enough porta potties and I was not happy I had to start this race out running. Would have rather gone swimming. Of course had a blast with all the BTers.

  • Comments: Beautiful city and area to compete. Biggest gripe is that transition area logistics are unfair - WAS NOT in one end, out the other; if your spot is at the back of the area, you have to go much further than those closer to the entrance.

  • Comments: Great volunteers. I thanked them all. Nice race. In my opinion it is too large for the venue, but it is sooo popular.

  • Comments: Two years ago this was my first race ever. I use it as a benchmark. Year one time: About 1:47. Last year time was about 1:39. This year my time was 1:27. I guess that is what they call progress. I have moved from a BOP to a solid MOPer. Overall a good day.

  • Comments: If I had one suggestion for this race log, it would be a separate Nutrition section, as mine seems to vary from race to race. For this race, I took a bit of a risk and used my new InfinIT custom blend that I ordered last week and only trained with twice before. It's the drink that will be served at my HIM next week, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. i'm totally sold on it now and will switch from Accelerade. I can dial up (or in my case down) the flavor and tailor the electrolytes and nutrition to my needs. i thought it worked great. I also had one 150-cal e-Gel on the bike. I drank nothing on the run because I felt fine and didn't want to waste a second to grab a drink. It was the right decision. In sum, this was my best Sprint distance race ever. I have never before felt so consistently strong throughout, particularly on the run. That was a tremendous and exhilarating feeling, especially to be passing other runners with ease compared to where I was two years ago. I am sooooo ready

  • Comments: Nice pancakes at end, although the line was super long. The race director and some of the volunteers were yelling at people a whole lot which is not the best thing on a race day. Otherwise it was a good race for me. Looking forward to going under 1:30 next year.

  • Comments: Piano Blu was a bit misleading in advertising a nice buffet for $5 cover. All profits went to cancer research, which is great. But any misleading adverts are annoying, especially when you're a starving triathlete expecting food to eat and getting none.

  • Comments: This was supposed to be my "A" race, but turned out to be just a race. Was really pleased with my swim for overcoming the mental issues. A major goal accomplished. I held back because of the heat and my results showed. Still I beat last year's time by 11 minutes, beat 516 others and, most importantly had a blast. I followed Hangloose's advice and stayed to cheer the DFL finisher. As the dwindling crowd cheered her on and gave her high-fives - it reminded me again why I love this sport. It has nothing to do with being on the podium.

  • Comments: I was happy with my time on this hilly, challenging course. Thought my bike split would be better, but it was good enough. For first time, I chose an inside approach on swim course and was constantly running into weaker swimmers. I need to be at front of pack for swim start. I was happy with run for such a hot day on a hilly course. I actually need to improve my cycling-- and it may be time to get the tri bike so I can go aero.
