  • Comments: This is my first race and it seemed pretty organized and there was plenty of help on the roads to lead us in the right direction. I was kind of nervous about that part before the race.

  • Comments: Duathlons have many runners that can't swim. Very competitive field and the opening event in MA for tri season. Good course, close to my house.

  • Comments: At first I was little dissappointed but now that I look back on my 2006 race when I was in really good shape, I am pretty happy. I was 1:34 faster and faster in all 3 areas. I finished in 20th in both years but almost 100 more people this time around. This was a good start to the season but definately a lot to work on.

  • Comments: I really enjoy this race, I had a great time in the fall. I am glad I came back. It was much larger than the fall 347+ vs. 193. There were a few vendors this time around and the post race snacks were fine. Look at my ascent/descent for those that state that the Garmin 305 is not accurate and garbage, I would beg to differ, almost identical numbers ascending and descending. I truly think had I not dropped my chain I would have dropped 4-5 places in my AG.

  • Comments: Did my first duathlon of the season. I had to get up at 5 AM and drive 1.5 hours to get there - the entire way down I had that little voice inside me that kept telling me to turn around, go home, and go back to bed. Since it was 40 degrees and raining (and I had only put in 14 miles on my new bike), my "gut" did not sound that crazy on this occassion. In addition, I have never really ridden in the rain... When I finally got there and got out off the car, I was shocked at how cold it was (yet another reason to turn around!). All this anxiety was festering in me. It had been there for at least a couple of days. Two days before I had contemplated pulling out because my new pedal system and shoes were too "slippery" and not as easy to dismount from as my old SPD style clips. At that point, I had a "heart-to-heart" with myself. Was I really that person who had lost 60 pounds? Had I really become a runner? Even after a season of sprints (and one olympic), could I really consider myself a triathlete?

  • Comments: This was a great small race. It was well organized and a fun course. There was never any doubt about which direction to go and they did a great job with traffic control. I would definately do this race again.
