  • Comments: MSC puts on good events. My only issue with this race is the venue - the murky lake is annoying to swim in.

  • Comments: Very pretty course and a race I'll probably do again. A good start to the season. I don't know if it's because I'm a same day registrant and not in the system but my stats still aren't fully posted so this is based on what I see now and might change. Goal was to use this race as a trial run and try out the new wetsuit etc so pleased with my effort and the results. Crazy that even when strong I'm still at the bottom of the pack. So many fast people out there!

  • Comments: Because I have issues with my knee's the changing terrain and uneven footing was a concern for me, althogh did not play a factor, half the run course was akin to participating in an exterra event. More road surface would be better.

  • Comments: Binbrook is a fantastic race location. My favourite second to Belwood. Weather was crappy - off and on again rain that at some points felt like hail pelting me and then pouring on me by the end. I'm glad I did it because now I know I CAN'T do Guelph. I felt strong on the swim but there's no way I'm ready to double the distance by next weekend and 15K in to the bike my leg started hurting. I should have quit after the bike but I wanted to race and then my pride got in the way and I wouldn't stop to walk... an out and back so I was heading out as the faster runners were coming in. My leg is a mess now. I thought I did well on the bike but the results have my speed at only 26.3km/hour however... if I were to trust the current numbers I came in 7th overall on the swim!!!! It says my time is 11:15 which has me swimming a 1:30min/metre - trailing the leader by less than a minute YAY ME!!! Ha ha. And all that must have exhausted me because apparently I spent 21 minutes in transition

  • Comments: Did not stay for post race activities due to prior commitments. Duathletes are FAST runners. In a typical triathlon, I rank worse in swim, better in bike and best in run. In a typical duathlon, I always rank worst in first run, better in 2nd run, but best in bike; and this race is no exception. I think I'm a better runner, but not against duathletes. Most of them can run sub5 on trails, I can run sub5, maybe one day on paved downhill surfaces, like Sporting Life 10K. I'm not such a good cyclist, but I came in 5th overall women on the bike today! Must be the disk wheel!! I've come to the conclusion I prefer duathlons over triathlons, at least until I get over the panic attacks during OWS. (PS - overall rank includes men, wish they'd sort it properly to be women only)

  • Comments: The Binbrook Conservation area is a great venue, the HSBC race organization and volunteers are great as always. It was warm and sunny, the water temperature was awesome and the bike course is fast although a bit rough. I would love to race there again next year but may have to pass as that type of run course is definitely not my cup of tea. I will probably opt with Guelph which usually takes place the following week.

  • Comments: VERY VERY TOUGH DAY for me. Another horrible swim, but I did hang in there and finish. In this respect, it's better than last year when I actually DNF on swim. Last in my age group, haven't been there ever! I keep telling myself DFL >>> DNF >>> DNS. 2 bad races back to back, it can only get better, I hope.

  • Comments: Smaller race series, not quite as organized as some. Post-race food ok, but long line-ups.
