Total Time = 1h 25m 56s
Overall Rank = 209/431
Age Group = Clydesdale 40+
Age Group Rank = 3/10
Pre-race routine:

Got in early. Very amped for this race. The county park that hosts the event is well-suited for this race.
Swim
  • 14m 56s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

It wasn't the best time but I swam ok. I used my snorkel for the first time and felt comfortable in the water. Had one big mishap where I got a big drink of water.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Powered thru the mishap and came out of the water with some momentum.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Ok transition. Little bit of a run uphill to the racks.
Bike
  • 40m 10s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.42 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost my chain 3-4 miles in, flipped the bike & put it back on in record time. This cost me a minute. Between the wind and the chain it would have been easy to mail this race in but it motivated me to mash the pedals. Good ride all things considered.
Transition 2
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Worst segment of the day. I forgot my race belt-bumber and had to go back. I was lucky a volunteer brought this to me attention before I got out of T.
Run
  • 27m
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty windy and getting hot in the sun. BUT I was killing it compared to the MOPers on course.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

N/A Great effort race, could have been a bad day but I did not let it be.

Event comments:

Great local support for this race.

This month, drills make up about 15% of each workout, and we’re adding in a bit of sprinting/anaerobic work.

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.

I couldn’t help but feel that the race had beaten me. Perhaps duathlons were more for me? No, I was more determined than ever to succeed. I was determined to get on top of my swimming.

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.
