Subject: Hi from Colorado!
Hi all:
I've been around this website for a bit and thought I'd introduce myself. I am doing my 1st tri in July (Danskin in Denver). Somehow I was able to talk 8 other women in my office into doing the tri with me. I trained for the same race last year (and a marathon - another thing I had never done), but wound up having knee surgery instead. Huge bummer after all that training. I'm still recovering from that surgery (they screwed my meniscus into the tibia). I was not allowed to run for 6 months! So, I'm just getting back to running. Swimming is my weakness, but I'm finding that the curve of improvement is huge! I am improving quickly.

And I'll tell you - this website has been great especially since I have 8 other women looking to me for advice! :-O Thanks for the motivation and advice!

Cathy

Welcome, Cathy!! I'm scheduled for the Denver Danskin also my first triathlon. My sister-in-law talked me into it. So I hope to see you there. I too have knee problems. I do yoga and watch the knees like a hawk.

Good luck with your training and with the knee. I have knee issues myself (tendinitis), so I have to approach running with caution also. How great that you have a whole group to train with! I think that would be so fun!

My first tri was a Danskin in Sacramento, California. I and a group of 7 other women friends did it together. Now it's a tradition. We had the BEST time!! No offense, men--but it's great to race with just women, especially for your first. SOOO encouraging! Every time I passed someone, or was passed, someone said 'great job'. I felt like a million bucks, and started to return the encouragement.

It definitely gave me confidence for doing more tris! Now I'm even brave enough to do them with men too!!
