Subject: Abbey Road - August 8, 1969....and now

Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the photo session that resulted in the famous cover for The Beatles' album Abbey Road.  I was in Liverpool several weeks ago and visited a bunch of Beatles landmarks so I've been surfing for this kind of stuff...and found this live webcam.  We never did make it to London to see the road crossing pictured.  As you can see on the webcam, even 43 years later people are still having their photos taken on that spot.  The webcam is pointing in the opposite direction of the original photo shoot.  Some interesting facts about the photo shoot are here as well.

Ha that's awesome. There's a lady who either lives nearby or just goes there everyday and takes photos of people doing that with their camera and charges 5 pounds. It's how she makes a living. Rumor (rumour?) is that the locals hate the throngs of tourists who come to take pictures there. I guess they should expect it since it's been going on for 40 years now.

Good thing they don't live anywhere near the Colosseum in Rome. People have been going there for slightly longer than that.

Watched a little of the webcam and thought "Wow!  What a concept!  Drivers stopping for pedestrians in the crosswalk!".  My sarcasm is due to the number of azzh0135 that don't here.

I lived in London for 10 years and drove this road literally hundreds of times as it was on my way home  if I was in central London and there were people there every single time. The wall out front of the studio must get painted about once a month as it gets covered in messages.
