After searching every nook and cranny around the house and at work, I was convinced I lost my Garmin 910xt.  I was VERY irritated with myself because I am not one to lose stuff.  Then after two days it mysteriously appeared in my lunch bag.  At some point, in a mindless state, I must have shoved it in my lunchbox (which I don't take to work every day).  What a relief to find it and eliminate my enormous first-world problem.  Anyone else nearly have a panic attack over losing one of their favorite tri-toys?

Same here, except it was my Forerunner 305.

We have a 3 year old daughter who loves to hide things and so I was convinced that she took it.

I turned her room and the playroom upside down, but no luck.

Two weeks later I found it in the pocket of the jacket I put on after my last 10 km race.  In the post race confusion, I completely forgot that I took it off.

I regularly lost and found my Garmin in my shoes and a particular hidey hole in my car.  Why I don't look there first is beyond me!  The hidey hole also has a thing for my sunglasses.  I  think it might be a portal.

I lost my 305 at the trailhead after a mtb ride. A guy actually found it, then used the find home feature and brought it to me 15 miles away. It was freaking awesome.

found my timex watch in a box of stuff that I had brought home from my previous job, even though I never had the watch at work...I can only guess it fell in there when the box was in the car or something

I left my 910 in the locker at the gym.  I realized when I got to work, an hour away.  I instantly called the gym and had the lady at the front desk go to the locker room to look for it.  She called me back and said it wasn't there.  I was devastated, but decided to go look myself after work.  She clearly did not look very hard because it was in the exact locker I told her it was in....it was on a lower shelf, pushed back toward the wall, and not in clear sight.  But it was there and I was relieved!

Not my gear but I've lost other stuff while training. I often ride at a local state park. One day I started my ride there and decided to ride the country roads in the surrounding area instead of staying within the park. I road around in the country for 30 miles or so, got back to my van, reached for my keys  - nothing. Heart sinking - they could be anywhere along that ride, how would I ever find them?! So I just started out slow and what do you know - not 1/4 mile down the road there they were. That was a moment of total JOY!

I read a story about a guy who did something similar back in the 80's.   Was going to turn in his doctoral thesis.  This was before word processors were the norm.  So, he had is ONE COPY of his thesis and he heads off to hand it in.  Goes out to his car, sets his thesis on the roof while unlocking the door.  Drives off.

Gets to school, realizes what he's done.   Goes home, grabs a similar-size magazine from the coffee table, places it on the car roof.

Drives normally, waits to hear the magazine fly away.   Gets out of the car an finds the magazine 10 feet away from his thesis.

Doctors, FTW!

That's pretty amazing.  And lucky!

Is it ever advisable to try to lose muscle mass? I've been struggling with a cycle of training to lose weight or rehabilitate some minor injury and only gaining muscle, which adds to my weight.
