Subject: outside bike storage...any unique ideas out there

I don't have a basement or garage so bike storage in my house has become an issue.  Right now our bikes are in a utility type room but some of them will have to move out soon. 

 I want to put my mountain bike and road bike outside and am looking for any unique solutions people have used.  My shed is currently full and not very accessible.  I was thinking about something like this on my back deck http://www.motoshell.com/Features.html  Anybody use something like this?  Think it will work year round in the northeast?

Any reason you can't hang it from the ceiling inside? Perhaps over the washer or dryer where you cannot walk anyway?

If they have to be stored outside, why not just a bike stand and a regular tarp.  In any case, I imagine moisture will cause some rust over time.  Be sure to keep the chain properly lubed to help prevent rusting.

I would not want to keep a bike outside year round. Is there any room in the house for one of those stands that lets you keep them against the wall?

Around here people get bike poles - http://www.amazon.com/SpareHand-Q-Rak-Floor-Ceiling-Storage/dp/B000B91L6W and put them in their carports. 

My neighbor rigged up some sort of pulley system to store his bikes from his stairwell ceiling.

We have outdoor bicycle storage lockers where I work.  The brand is called Cycle-Safe. Basically, the locker is a fiberglass box that has doors on each end.  The box is divided diagonally so it holds two bikes.  Each door has a separate lock.  The are pretty sturdy.  I don't know how expensive they are.  Probably not cheap.
