"The following list - the Definitive 200 - was developed by NARM, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers in celebration of the art form of the record album. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is pleased to recognize this varied collection of some of history’s most influencial and popular albums, many of which are Hall of Fame Inductees."

Seems like there's a similar list that comes out every month.

To save you Rush-heads some trouble, they have a single album - 2112 - at #198.

Cool

Gee, even a list of Participating Retailers so I know where to go to "complete my collection."  How... ummm... nice of them.

Rock albums?  Really?? Dixie Chicks ( I thought they weren't allowed to sing anymore??)? Dr Dre?  Outkast?  Faith Hill?? Where's Stryper fer crying out loud???? Great White?  Poison?

That list is way off nothing from The Who. Are they insane?

I guess it depends on your definition of "Rock and Roll". Given that this is posted by the "Rock Hall of Fame"??? I would suggest it is a bit self serving.

There are more than a few artists on the list that definitely would not put themselves in this category. (Punk, Country and RAP/Hiphop artists in particular might not appreciate being lumped in with the cheesier side of rock)

I can say that maybe Tool and most definitely the Sex Pistols would/do not appreciate being on such a list. (PIL maybe but not the Pistols)

They are lucky they did not include Rage Against the Machine on their list. (Remember the Music Awards a few years ago???)
