does he have the "blueprints" of NSA surveillance? I'm sorry but he is almost an enemy of the state at this point. Thank God he has "insisted" they not be made public.

Is it wrong to believe in assassination to avoid having to hear about him anymore?

Same thing for Zimmerman, although it would have been cheaper to do it before the trial.

if we're being theoretical, yes. the state protects the people, therefore he is also an enemy of the people. now, i get what you are saying, but being a whistle blower is one thing, continuing to leak classified data, regardless of its legality, is another thing. i'd stay away from windows if i were him.

I would hazard a guess that it's for his own protection. Since we now know it's okay to drone assasinate American Citizens, he might have copied it so that he has some protection from this.

If he thinks he's protected by having that info, he should be droned for being a dumbazz.

ideally I would say yes, but when the government violates the public trust they become an enemy of the people. If NSA, White house, or whoever is violating the US Constitution they are going against the people.

I read yesterday that he had given the information to 3 other sources so that if anything happens to him it would be released.  Does anyone really think that one of those 3 people won't release it anyway at some point.

I would almost expect that he will disappear at some point.

I would agree weather he disappears on his own or not. I suspect he will live out his days were ever he ends up very quitely. Kinda with the idea you do not talk and we will let you live. They might even pay him off.

Why else would we spend a trillion dollars a year on our military/homeland defense?

Well, you've probably all heard that Snowden's been granted a 1-year asylum by the Russians. It's interesting hearing all the saber-rattling the politicians are putting out over the damage this will do to our diplomatic relations with them. To me, I can't see how we can let this decision affect the relationship too greatly.

I mean we need to work with Russia closely on nuclear weapons security, for example. I think that trumps this guy.

As part of the agreement to disarm, they dismantle the weapons and we agree to take the nuclear materials, "reprocess" it and use the material as fuel in a power reactor (although i suppose you could potentially use it in a research reactor if you were so inclined).

I just saw that picture on facebook and thought it was funny.
I saw another one that said something like "Irony: Charging Snowden with Spying for telling everyone they are being spied on by the NSA"

What's shocking about it? That the guy shut down his service without giving his subscribers any notice or giving them the opportunity to recover their data or refunding their money?

I think you're missing the point.  Reading between the lines, by law he had to give NSA access to all of his customers data but he chose to close his business in order to prevent it and protect his customers constitutional rights.

Go google the NSA 3 hop rule.  I can pretty much guarantee that both you and I have had our phone records searched as a result of it.  Even if we haven't every call that you, me, my wife, and three kids have made are all searchable in a government database.  Not cool

As I've mentioned before in other threads.  I find it so ironic that the conservatives/libertarians are the ones arguing for civil rights when the progressives are arguing for more "trust in the government".

The reason that I wanted to complete a triathlon is because I was watching one on TV and said to myself, "I'll bet I can do one of those".
