oooo so much to say.

Bush SAID we wanted to get OBL, but BO got him.  If Romney can make it happen and not just SAY he wants it, win for him.  Heck, he could probably pay them out of his own pocket.

I have to ask, is this replacement ref "hate speech" coming from from POTUS?  He basically said he wants to do away with them.

He got us a college football playoff system? Didn't he promise that early in his presidency? Man can cure any injustice!

Won't that leave the replacement refs out of work.  He probably sees this as more people he can get to sign up for food stamps.  (Hmmmm should I use the red font????)

Shocking, isn't it?

So, there are people who think the replacement ref's are better than the union?

Nice stretch!

I think it's pretty obvious they are inferring the actual referrees are better than their replacements at doing the job.  The union does not officiate the game, the people who work for the union do.  There is a difference.

I'm so glad he's weighed in on the NFL while he's played hands off with the Chicago teachers' strike

Yeah, I don't have a Fantasy Teacher League. In case my wife is reading, I would draft her first I swear.

If I had said "... than the unionized ref's", would that make you happier?

I debated putting in the sarc font, but followed Hugh's example and did not. If we were to take this otherwise lighthearted thread and add the usual COJ spin into barely related territory, I would say that this is a good example of how having a union to represent the interests of the individual makes a big difference. The ref's are clearly very good at what they do. Their absence is keenly felt. Yet they are the lowest paid group of the lot (at the last player strike, remember, people were saying it was the interests of millionaires pitted against those of the billionaires). And I read recently that it would only cost each NFL team about $100,000 to meet the demands of the refs. Which, while a lot of money to you or me, is really nothing in terms of team revenues.

But I won't go there, since it is a light-hearted thread and I would never derail a COJ thread....

ETA a fun picture:
