Veteran 820 Omaha, NE | Subject: Pain cave remodel So when we moved into this house a year ago we had a room in the basement, finished, but nasty carpet from 198X? That and the light fixture was terrible. I didn't want to go in there. It was suppose to be the exercise room, but really just turned into a storage room. I like to wrench my own bikes as well, and who wants to do that in a room with poor lighting, and fear of dropping a small part and losing it for 10 mins in the dark and old dingy carpet. So here is my budget reno. The only thing I spent money on was the tile @ 30 cents a sq/ft in the clearance section. I also added the TV, and also have dvd/vcr, (yes VCR lol). I'll add cable later. Ohh, I spent $10 on on one of those glass dvd stands that has the thing that will hide the wires up to the TV. So here is the reno in pics. Note the last pic. A new project for the wife. Veteran 820 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Pain cave remodel OK, for some reason it rearranged all my pictures, so the new project is at the top. Ohh, I had to take a break to do some snow clean-up as well. |

Master 1770 Bedford, MA | Subject: RE: Pain cave remodel Nice work. I recently moved into a new house and was psyched to be able to set up my own pain cave. I also convinced my wife that a treadmill was needed. With the 3+ feet of snow we've had in the last ten days and 12-16" more predicted it's been a wise investment this winter! Veteran 820 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Pain cave remodel I love my Kestrel's. I'm actually going back to an Airfoil. I'll be selling a couple even though I'd like to keep them forever. Anyways, you'd be correct. The trophies are from my other hobby, competing in car stereo's. I build the loudest cars in the world. I won USACi (United States Autosound Competition International Finals from 2006-2013. I couldn't go to finals last year due to a military deployment otherwise it could have been another barring some major failure in the lanes. I also compete in another organization, MidwestSPL, where I have won a few titles as well. I think 4, I don't know it's hard to keep track anymore. Same thing, last year could have been another had I not be deployed and everything went as planned. Now that I'm getting older I'm not as serious about it though. If I win, I win, if not, ohh well. Yeah I want to win, but at this point anything else is just gravy. I was actually pretty happy to lose at finals a few years ago, to bring me motivation for my current project. For some reason when I talk to non audiophiles I always throw in the disclaimer that I'm not that guy driving through your neighborhood at midnight waking everyone up. In fact my daily driver just has the factory radio. The car I build could be comparable to dragsters. It's build for one purpose, to put a big number up on the meter. Not only would it sound horrible if I played music, it would blow things up after a little bit. It's all purpose built. I'll go ahead and put up a video of my last loss at finals 2012 in MidwestSPL. This is the Advanced No-wall class. The class you can build up to your front door opening and everything must be below the window line of the vehicle. In my truck I have approximately 33,000 watts on 3 15" woofers. Coming into the final round I had put up multiple 162.2's including the previous elimination round but for whatever reason I could not duplicate it here and ended up coming in 2nd. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, yes the audio cost much more than the vehicles, I wear hearing protection and don't sit in the vehicle. I'm the guy in the white shirt with the blue S-10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYTN0svNxlc Edited by cstoulil 2015-02-07 3:42 PM |
