Subject: RE: Next Time You Don't Feel Like Running...Years ago I had a swimmer that had CP (not quite a bad a this student) He could not lift his legs high enough to mount the blocks by himself. He begged us to let him swim the 500 in a competition. In NYS the rules state that a swimmer must mount the blocks by themselves. Since they don't have hand rails I would coincidently stand next to the block with my back turned. He would grab my shoulder and pull himself up on to the block. None of the officials ever said a word. We finally relented At the next meet he was dead last but had both benches cleared cheering for him. I wish I had thought to video that. |
