OK, I understand the soda thing.  But this is ridiculous.

"Mayor Michael Bloomberg in March instituted a ban on food donations to homeless shelters. No, not because of food contamination, but because the city can’t properly assess salt, fat and fiber in donated food and thereby ensure starving people are getting the optimal levels of nutrition."

Ridiculous...

This is an old story, but back in the news because some guy brought a truckload of bagels to a shelter and was sent away because of the new rule.  The shelter is packed but they couldn't take Bagels.  Red Tape.

And he won't let the National Guard come in to help with storm relief because they carry guns - he doesn't want to create a "police state".

Educate me....so he needs to be in charge of the National Guard to prevent some type of Kent State situation?

Heh.  Reminds me of the African nations that won't accept GMO food stuffs because they are worried that it might cause cancer in their people in 30-40 years.  Ummmmm..... you do realize if they don't eat NOW, they will die?!?!?!

Yeah, this is one of those, HUH? things.

I hadn't heard the National Guard story before today. It's ridiculous if it's true. I can't find it in any mainstream media.

What's weird is that this is in the Daily News today:

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/national-guard-members-paramedi...

So maybe he changed his mind? Regardless, it's crazy that he was offered help, that the Boro president requested help, and that he turned them down. It's not a paramilitary splinter group, it's the friggin' National Guard.

Overall, his response to the storm has been excellent, and I'll keep saying that, because it's true. There have been some big misses, though, and this is certainly one if it's true.

How come "Rocker" was capitalized? It sounds like the guy made news not sitting in some name brand chair that rocks back and forth.

Bloomberg is a perfect example of the problems with this country.  Then man takes seemingly good initiatives and shoves them down the throats of his constituents in absurd ways.

Id drinking 20oz of soda a good idea.  Probably not.  But the government has no right in making these decisions for me.

He's not off his rocker.  He's an egomaniacal idiot.
