Heard the other day that it's the 75th anniversary of the Abbot and Costello "Who's on First".  They did a little documentary on it and some of the greatest comedians said it was the "perfect" routine and there is no way to improve it.

In my opinion, it's timeless.  They did it over 30 years before I was born, I laughed as a kid, and still laugh as an adult.  Hopefully, if/when I have kids, they will like it too.

Just a random thought for a friday...

I was watching that and they showed Fallon doing a re-imagining of it with Jerry Seinfeld and others as some of the other players on the field, but yeah, the original just cannot be beat.

It’s like the Gettysburg Address or MLK’s “I Have a Dream” speech (wait, wait, I’m going somewhere with this…). Everyone’s familiar with a small part of it, but most people have probably never heard the whole thing, or haven’t done so in a long time. When you hear them in their entirety you understand why they have such staying power and that they’re so much more than just the one or two lines we all know.

When you pay off the first baseman every month, who gets the money?

Every dollar of it.

(I used to have the whole darn thing memorized, as well as a poster of it in my room).  Naturally.

My eight year old daughter loves that routine...and she probably hasn't seen 5 minutes of baseball her entire life.

I get impressed with the length and rapid fire delivery.  I'm not in the biz, so I can't imagine that was easy to memorize.  Practice practice practice.  Plus if you watch different versions of it (I haven't played them side by side), they appear to be identical.
