Maybe they are, if they believe that using sport to further objectify women is a good thing.

OK, my only issue with this is that someone is going to objectify women whether they pose nude or not.  I think it has to do with values more than anything.  Pornography in any form is outlawed in many Middle Eastern countries.  Are women not objectified there?

C'mon.  While I am a fan of nudes in art and beautiful athletic bodies, I cannot imagine being proud of my Mom/Sister/Daughter if she were to pose in Playboy.  Or Dad/Brother/Son in Playgirl for that matter!   It's just a base form of entertainment.   

Sure, she's model-pretty but isn't there a better way to launch her modeling career ??

I'm not famous, but I do it. Sometimes even when I haven't been asked.

I don't think she's doing it to launch her modelling career, since she's been modelling very sucessfully for a few years now.

Of course I don't know them.  What's your point?  Some parents would be proud of their child for letting millions of strangers see her naked?  Well GOOD for them.

Fine.  I see now that she's posed for other major skin mags, but that this will be her first soft-core outing.  Brilliant. 

It will probably make her a more sought after model -- furthering rather than launching her career.

But will it also boost attendance from oh-so-adoring fans at swim meets and triathlons hoping to see the next babe who'll 'bare it all' for their frenzied fantasies?   I hope not. 

Maybe it will just make her popularity sinks like a lead balloon, except of course among the rising (pun intended) male fan base that she's feeding with this stunt.
