I'm looking into this plan just so I can follow an easy training plan without getting overly tired or injured as I've done without a plan.

I'm just woundering what type of training it is in this programme? Is it all long and slow stuff for the run and the bike? I'm not concerned about the swim because I swim with a squad so what ever the squad does, I do.

Also, can I add another 1-1.5 hour easy bike in there?

Is there any TT training or speed work for the bike and run?? Or all long and slow is my main question?

Thanks.

From what I looked at, most is based on time and volume. Not specific to speed sets, etc., just volume.

Yes, by design it is all slow stuff as we are assuming it is for people new to endurance training - just to keep injuries down mainly.  After a season or two you can migrate to a plan more focused on speed once you have sustained the volume for awhile.

I did this last year with added bike time. No injury issues...

You wrote the plan didn't you?I just want to do some races without getting sick or injured as I have been doing pretty much all this year. I've had 1.5 years tri experience. So do I need to download or become a bronze member? By the sounds of it if it is just time I could probably get them same use out of it being a free member?

I'm just finishing the 20 week Run Focused Plan.  So far, so good!  The test is Sunday.  No injuries, and have done far more than I ever have before.

x2 really interested to see the results people have had on this plan. I too want to use it to avoid my usual injuries and prep for a HIM training plan.

This plan has a free print version - just see it in the 'free' option in the 'Programs' page.  Going bronze will additionally allow you to import it into your training log and use any of the planned training tools.

What is the main difference between the 16 and 20 week? I've looked over them and it looks pretty much the same just an extra month of training?

Am I wrong? Would I benefit more buy doing a winter maintenance type run (8 weeks) programme and the 16 week or just 4 weeks little build and then into the 20 week?

You're correct, the 20 week repeats a 4 week block at the end.  What I had in mind with the difference b/w the 16 and 20 week programs is that if you have been training more inconsistently, not hitting at least ~80% of your workouts the 20 week program will give you a chance to solidify your gains going into the peak/taper phase.  Though if you have a race to plan around, that alone may dictate if you can do the 16 week or fit the 20 week in.

What plan are you asking about? A plan on BT? I'd have to read through the plan to tell you anything specific about it.

But you could do that yourself.......

The silver membership offers access to plans that have more structured/formal workouts that include speed work.  In fact, the silver gets you access to all the plans.

I'm not selling for BT, but after about a year here, I figured I have spent tons of money on gear (crap, even a pair of tri shorts costs 45 bucks) that $45 on a membership to get access to importable plans was worth it.  I'm glad I made the decision.

I think all the plans are pretty well thought out and would avoid injury for the people using them IF they chose the proper plan initially.  IE, a sedentary person should NOT select the advanced IM plan!

That's a good point.  I didn't even do a specific plan because I wasn't sure what to do to.  (How newb is that!)
I just started trying to build up my endurance.  However, I just wanted to contribute money to the site since I was taking advantage of all the suggestions.  I'm hoping to do something a bit more structured next year.

So it's fine that I will replace what swims the programme says with 3 swims of 1.5 hours each?
