So I'm looking for a good, reliable, waterproof digital camera that will also take good dry land photos.  I've gone through a bazillion reviews online for a few select cameras and every single one of them has the extremes of 'I loved it' and 'don't buy it, it leaks'.  I want to take this along to Lake Placid to get some underwater swim shots (during training, not the race, of course) and to also use in the pool, kayaking, record the dogs swimming, etc.  I am looking for one that takes good stills as well as nice video.

The main 3 I researched are (leaning more toward the top 2):

Panasonic Lumix TS3 (they also now have a TS4 out)
Nikon CoolPix AW100
Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX10

Does anyone have any feedback good or bad on these camera, or could recommend a different make/model you use that produces clear pictures with good color in and out of the water?

I have a Nikon Coolpix that I've used underwater and it worked great! Unfortunately I can't remember the model number and it's at home at the moment.  I do know that it came out last year.

I had the Panasonic and I couldn't have been happier.  It took great shots, and I know a thing or two about cameras.  Unfortunately, I tossed it to my niece as a joke into the pool, she missed it and it hit the concrete bottom and water got in...

Now I use my GoPro and they recently made a flat lens housing for underwater use.

We're going back and forth between the Canon D20 and the Nikon AW100.  Leaning toward the Nikon.

I just got a Nikon AW100 a few weeks ago.  I haven't had a chance to use it much or try it underwater, but so far the above-the-surface pics look nice and it's pretty easy to use.  I've seen a few underwater pics a friend took with his and they looked good as well.

I have the Panasonic Lumix. I had the TS1, and I believe I now have the TS3. After 2.5 years of use and abuse, it leaked. Luckily, I bought the camera store's 3 year warranty, and got sent a brand new camera.

If you get it - get insurance!

I have the Panasonic Lumix TS3. My wife & I LOVE IT!!! We bought it last summer for our trip to Playa Del Carmen. Since then, it's been in the pool a bazillion times & we've taken it to Water World a handful of times. I also let one of my buddies from work borrow for his trip to Play a couple months ago. (He & his fiance LOVED it som much that they are buying one this Summer) Through all of that......not a single issue, no leaks.......nada.

My oldest daughter did drop it & drag it on the ground last Summer at Water World (dang kids!!!) But there were just some cosmetic scratches on the outside. Nothing that affects the performance or fucntions of the camera. For reference, Panasonic says that you can drop the camera from 6.5ft & it will be okay.......last Summer my daughter was 10yrs & she was 5ft 3in. Like I said before, it's held up wonderfully!!!!!!

My husband is a whitewater kayaker and he has the Panasonic.  It's been a great camera for him.

Here's a link to a recent kayak trip

Thanks, gang, all of your replies have been very helpful, and those pics were great, Janyne!  I think I am going Panasonic.

x2 on the Olympus.  It's good to a depth of 30+ feet.  I've taken it on several snorkeling trips and to our local pool to video each of my swim group.  Takes great pics and videos.

Prior to purchasing the Olympus I had a cheapy camera that was only rated to 10' deep and went too deep on the first dive so I only got two good pics out of it.

I've got the Olympus 8010, it's one generation old, the new model has GPS tagging.  Took it Snuba in Hawaii, I think it was 25ft but it's good to 33ft.

I would also recommend the Olympis brand. My dad bought me one back in 2007, not because it was waterproof, but because it was dustpoof and I was going to Iraq. That camera took a beating even before it ever saw the water. Once I got back we took it in the pool, my kids played with it in the hot tub, and I've used it while doing OWS's with my children. It's 5 years old now and we've never had an ounce of problems with it. We just moved to Europe and I am buying another one for my husband so he can have his own when he takes the kids exploring through the countryside!

Kodak EIS Play Sport. Waterproof with clear pics and video. Use ours all the time at the pool and on fishing trips.

If you are still looking, I have the Kodak easyshare sport C123 and love it! We took it to discovery cove in Fl and used it for video and photos, above and below water. I think the best part to me is it was not uber $$$$$. I do not want to loose or break it, but for under $100, I can take a few more risks with it.
