Rob Ford is continually under the gun. A few weeks ago the CBC and Toronto Star (both left of centre socialist media outlets) were saying he was drunk at a public function according to "inside sources." And when more respectable news sources started asking people who attended no one could substantiate it. In fact, Canada's Minister of Defense said "he looked ok to me." along with every other public figure interviewed....
So...it only seems to be these anonymous leads that seem to go after Rob Ford....everything public seems to be fine. But the damage is done when apparent "journalists" take a slant and continually bombard the public. The thought being that if they continue to attack him...he must be guilty right? When you ask for evidence...there is none....

Oh..to own a media outlet...the fun I could have..lol.

Rob Ford is one of the few politicians to draw a line in the sand. Hence it makes him very unpopular with lobby groups, socialists, and people who want the gravy train to keep running. He's a different type of politician no doubt...and a bit of a hillbilly I will concede that...but...if you had to pay taxes, all kinds of taxes....this guy actually represents you. He hasn't just "talked" like most politicians, he's brought common sense to Toronto....and if your institutionalized in the public sector you won't like it.

He's cut spending, fights tax increases and instead demands efficiencies from the municipal government. Wow...imagine that. And his Ward where he was originally elected is not a fancy high class area. Its the working, the new immigrants, those who want to keep more of there money in there pocket who love this guy.

I actually live in the city and pay its taxes and this guy is an embarrassment. I hate the current story - no one is clean here but I am so embarrassed that this is my city.  I do love it here - there is lots of good stuff but this circus is tiring.

There is so much wrong with his leadership style - i got what he did when he was fiscal conservative on council but as a mayor he lacks so much skill it's depressing (how about you develop an annual budget with your executive committee and then vote against it!) - I would go on and on but then it would become a political Cup of Joe. And I really don't want to go there.

If the newspapers stopped publishing stories without evidence i think 90% of your concerns would be solved. Most of what is published ends up being false....

I agree..its a total embarrassment. And Mayor Ford could be more tactful, but lets face it...there are a lot of elements out there who are gunning for him.

Exactly! Thanks for the proof. She has posted a link to the Toronto Czar...err...I mean the Toronto Star. A socialist newspaper which has had "questionable ethics" since it's inception, but has really honed in on Rob Ford since he became Mayor. Read the link above, and when you put aside all the talk and opinion...what are the facts, and how have they been presented?

The Toronto Star has gone so far as to have a "journalist" peeking over the Mayor's fence taking pictures in the evening. When the Mayor went out to confront the person (who had not identified himself) the "journalist" ran away....leaving a man concerned for his family why someone was taking pictures of his place at night..

There is a lot to criticize a mayor for. That's the beauty of a free society. You can question and lobby legislation, and government agendas. This is good. A continued smear campaign....wow.....just....wow.....

I don't understand why you would say something like that? So if I'm a cyclist I have to put a cycling agenda ahead of everything else?
I would think stopping ever increasing taxes and government spending, proper spending and administration of taxes, etc. would take precedence over....cycling...

Bike routes are important.....but wayyyy down the list. Under his administration he's added or in the process of adding over 100km of new bike trails. What he's not doing is forcing bike routes into major economic arteries into the city for simple ideology.... It's not a "feel good" thought but an 18 wheeler carrying goods drives the economy more than a bicycle does. Will cycling play a larger role in the future? Most likely...but forcing change like that and jolting the economic blood lines of the city is not the way to do it.

Its hard to believe but the tax and spend era of Mayor Miller ended...but it has. Corporations as well as private citizens were getting fed up with the huge spending budgets of City hall, the huge salaries, and yet they were still seeing strikes... The 6 story recreation center on the waterfront...with an ice rink on each floor that Mayor Miller was in the works for...I mean really? Thats what your taxes were gonna pay for? lol. Businesses were moving away from Toronto to areas where there was less of a tax burden... If you want an economy in Toronto, you gotta be reasonable... I know its in style to hate corporations but the reality is, they create the wealth and the jobs that people need. If you abuse them..they pick up and move.

Thepeople voted in a guy who said "the gravy train has to stop." Is he a brute, yes. Not very tactful..obviously. Has he kept taxes under control, and read the riot act to the civil service to get there act together...you betcha. At the end of the day, if you put a hillbilly into power and he keeps your taxes down and city services the same/better.....I'll take that any day over the typical politican who uses "newspeak" and sound bites, doesn't rock the boat and I get hit in the pocket book. You voted in someone to run the Corporation of the City of Toronto.....if you want a feel good Mayor...and you can afford it, there are lots of socialist Mayors around who love to spend your money....come to Elmira....he'll spend enough and then some....but you'll feel good about it...he's got great sound bites....
