Meet Frank (orange tabby, with, appropriately, blue eyes, boy) and Ava (tuxedo, girl). ... four week old foster kittens

We'll have them for about 4-6 weeks (until they turn 8 weeks old and are 2.2 lbs) - and then they go back to the SPCA for their spay/ nueter surgeries .. and then it's adoption time!

the pictures don't do justice to their cuteness or their size... each one is about 1 lb.

Adorable....too bad they become cats...

They day someone genetically engineers a kitten that never turns into a cat I'll be the first in line.

Kittens are adorable - until they sink their needle-like claws into your thigh or bite you with their needle-like teeth. Damn, those things HURT!

Kidding - they're precious, esp. the tabby - I have a soft spot for orange kitties.

awww, first the puppy thread, now this. How is a guy supposed to get any work done with all these cute looking animals on COJ!!! One day I want to foster but right now that would never work with my 2 dogs and current grumpy kitty.

2 years ago, I left my basement door open while gardening and found one stray mama and 7 tiny balls of fur!!!!So we brought them inside, had to do kitten counts every night to make sure we weren't missing any....Have you ever tried to count 7 kittens?  They really don't cooperate....and they crawl back into the lineup so now we have 10?  Wait that's not right,  Start over.  By the time they were all 8 weeks old it was clear that they were in charge of the house!!!!!!  Luckily we found homes for all of them including mama.  We kept 2 of course.  And now I couldn't imagine life without them.

Love kittens.  Sometimes its hard to find the perfect wine pairing, but grilled with a bit of garlic, they are delicious.

ACES!!!!! Shame on you!!!   They're adorable. Can you send one over to myhouse to play. I'll have to send it back when hubby gets home, but until then I'll kitten-sit.

They are so adorable!  While my two cats are still cute, I miss the kitten stage.

They are adorable!!  My husband said no more cats or I'd happily adopt one.

Now that is a great story. Always makes me sad that none of my cats were kittens when I owned them. I always adopt from the Humane Society and usually they are 1-2 years or older when I get them. I really miss kittens but you can't go to the humane society and cuddle the kittens they have without getting in trouble

KIDDENS! I love kittens. The vet clinic beside my office takes strays and fosters them until they get adopted, and they just had the cutest little things you've ever seen. I'd often go steal them and bring them to my office for the day. I got so little work done. ;-)

Good for you for fostering. My dog would be cool with it - he thinks cats are just little dogs and just wants to play with them - but my cat would likely decapitate any other cat brought into this house. She's kind of a bi*Ch.

Must. Resist. Kittens...  I was in the feed store today and what did they have?  Kittens.  A tuxedo and a grey tabby.  I really want another cat, but I'm sure DH would say no.  Our current house cat turns 15 this Dec and it wouldn't be fair to get another cat.  But they are cute!

I'm not sure how you can foster and not want to keep all of them.  I'd be the crazy cat lady in short time.

OH! Me too! I love kitties!

This is why I have owned two very small dogs... a 6 pound Pomeranian and a 2 pound Maltese (we thought she would get larger!). It's a dog that always stays a puppy!

Okay, truth is, I've had cats since I was a child.  With the absence of a few times when I've lived in no pets buildings or dorms, I've always had at least one cat.

I think I like cats because, even though they are partly domesticated, I have no doubt whatever that if I were suddenly shrunk down to the size of a small rodent, my cat would not hesitate to kill me and eat me.  There's something cool about knowing that our relative size is the only thing protecting me from certain death.

Never thought of it that way, but so true. so, so true.
(although my cats are lazy ba$tard$.. they would probably paw at me and then go back to sleep)

Frank and Ava are doing well.. still scoping out their surroundings (our foster kittens stay in the second bedroom, aka "the kitten nursery" ... cat condos, toys, tunnels, etc). I'll post more pictures when they get a little bigger
