Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SPOILER ALERT I really enjoyed this season a lot. I initially didn’t like Lumen’s character, but I thought it was interesting the way she and their relationship evolved. I wasn’t sorry that she’s leaving the show (assuming she is.) As it is, Dexter’s got too many people too close to him, and I don’t particularly enjoy the interactions between him and the kids/baby/nanny. Overall, I felt (as shows like this often do) that it peaked last week and that last night was anticlimactic. The scene with Deb deciding to let them go at the end was the only real “wow!” moment of the episode. For season finales it will always be hard, and maybe impossible, for them to top last year with Arthur and Rita. My prediction for how it was going to end was that both Lumen and Liddy would die, and that Dexter would contrive a scene to make it appear that Liddy had been the other vigilante working with Lumen. I liked this scenario better, although I can’t really see Quinn being able to let go of the fact that he knows that Dexter is a murderer, despite Dexter’s decision to exonerate him. My wife wondered whether I thought that Deb suspects Dexter, and my answer was that I didn’t think so, but only because she has a well-documented “blind spot” when it comes to him. Given her instincts, and some admittedly strange behavior on Dexter’s part this year I’m sure if she really thought about it, she could put two and two together. Does Quinn know that Dexter and Lumen were the vigilantes? He never says it explicitly. Interesting that the season ended with a completely clean slate. Wonder where they’ll pick it up next time. Is Lumen coming back? Are the kids going to stay with the grandparents forever? Is the nanny up to something? What happened to the Latina cop that briefly took over Deb’s job when she was on suspension? |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree that I thought last weeks episode was much better than the finale. I did not think that Dexter was going to let Lumen go or for that matter live after she said she was done. I also missed the explanation of why Zero Cool (Jordan Chase) and his friends were doing what they were doing??? I still think that Deb will find out about Dexter, possibly through Quinn, IDK. I do not think we have seen the last of Lumen either. Not sure how I feel about Deb letting them go after she had them at gunpoint either. I think there might have been a better way to end that scene, but who knows, maybe Deb will find out about Dexter and support his "missions"?? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I really liked this season and thought Luman added an interesting dynamic. Dexter with his creepy smile when Luman plunged the knife into her first victim was priceless. Although the way she killed Jordan I knew at that point she was going to leave. You could sense the closure she got by releasing all of the anger and emotion on him. Did not figure she would be able to keep that 'dark passenger' around for people that had done her no wrong directly. Having said that I thought all along that Luman would somehow get caught in the final episode killing Jordan Chase and she would take the fall for her and Dexter knowing she had gotten her revenge. Being that Dexter had helped her get it she would not do anything to get him caught and just go away to prison and never be seen again. I guess I was wrong. I do wonder if she comes back after a short hiatis wishing to reunite with Dexter. Your right about Deb blocking out the obvious regarding Dexter and his strange behavior. I can only think that since she grew up with him, odd behavior is the norm and she does not see it as odd at all. One thing I thought was odd was that Quinn had the photo's given to him by Liddy in his nightstand. If he was arrested as a murder suspect I would assume that a search warrant would happen almost immediatly and they would have found those photo's. Perhaps a minor detail but as soon as he was arrested I remembered those and wondered how Dexter was going to beat the police to the Quinn's and get the photos. Also what about the car that was crashed at the crime scene. Dexter was bleeding when he got out, would they not have sent someone there to do gather samples? Oh well, so when does next season start? |

I don't think there ever was an explanation of what Jordan/Eugene and Emily's relationship was. I was hoping for something to explain that a bit more. The crashed stolen car bothers me. How is the crashed car at the camp going to be explained? Given that Dexter stole it that morning from near the pier where Liddy's body was found. Just think that's got to raise some questions and is a HUGE loose end. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Right-- forgot about the crashed stolen car. Regarding the search warrant at Quinn's, I don't think he had been formally charged yet-- they were waiting for his lawyer and for the test results on the blood on his shoe, so he wasn't a suspect yet. And, since he's a cop, I think they'd give him the benefit of the doubt before executing a search warrant on his apartment. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jordan Chase was absolutely deranged in the season finale. What with his hissing/heavy breathing and sort of "in your face" sniffing and what not. Gave me the CREEPS. I love love love love love this show. Love it. I worried about the giant boulder that Dexter used to break the window of the car he stole. You'll remember he just tossed it into the back seat. When his car flipped over, that boulder would have become a projectile and hit him in the head, certainly knocking him out! I agree... I would have liked to have known more about the relationship between Emily Birch and Jordan. We watch EVERY Sunday and now we are going to be lost. Thinking of picking up that SHAMELESS show for our Sunday nights while Dexter is off season... What do you guys think? Edited to Add: I think Lumen will be back. In some capacity. Later. Like maybe she starts feeling guilty about things and she feels compelled to turn herself in... And maybe Dexter will have to kill HER! ![]() Edited by Whizzzzz 2010-12-13 12:27 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think Deb knew it was Dexter because of the red hair and height. Why would should kind of Wink Wink ask dexter in the lab to help her out with the blood on the boot just as she gave "someone" a second chance at the camp sight. She also hinted its at the party when she was talking to dexter. |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don't think the writers knew how Lumen was going to work out, and when he added the right spice to the mix, her shows were already shot and done with, so there's the open slot to bring her back. ZeroCool's harassing of Lumen was great... so creepy and fitting, I thought he was going to bite her or start mocking her screaming like the dude in Silence of the Lambs did. Emily's backstory with Eugene and the kids was kind of explained when she told Lumen about Jordan/Eugene's truth. Maybe they could have gone more into how he coveted her, and how he manipulated his friends into going along. Deb's giving the vigilante's a free pass made sense to me... the entire "I don't know how you survived this" hit home with her and her experience with the Ice-Truck-Fiance. Plus she knew any connection to Chase was shaky at best but her gut told her that he was behind all of the girls' killings. The vigilantes were doing what she WANTED to do, but couldn't because she was a cop. She would have had them come out from the plastic though. and I thought that Lumen was going to take one for the team and come out to reveal herself to save Dexter. In the end... the kids are back in town, but will go back home before the next season... the nanny is weird, and Deb will live happy. I predict a return of Lumen, or Dexter goes out of his way to see her and off a few bad people out of town. Who's blood did Dexter use for the boot drop analysis ? and when will they see that Liddy signed out the equipment the same way that Dexter did ? how long before LaGuerta comes up pregnant ? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think Dexter could simply have said that the blood sample was contaminated (it was on someone’s shoe, after all) or the test was inconclusive. No one has any reason to disbelieve him or to think he’s hiding anything—he’s the blood expert. I think the implication is that the Liddy case is closed, or at least that Quinn is no longer a suspect. It didn’t bother me that Deb make them show themselves. I think she felt that it would be easier to let them go if she didn’t see their faces. And remember that Deb had met Lumen at Dexter/Rita’s house, so, if she had come out from behind the curtain, Deb would have remembered her and Dexter would have had some ‘splaining to do. My wife remembered Deb saying something to Dexter at the party like, “I bet you’re glad that’s over” (meaning the case) and she wondered if that was a clue that Deb did suspect Dexter, but I don’t remember the line. This is TV, after all, and I think that if we were meant to think that Deb did suspect Dexter, they would have hit us over the head with it. Remember all those shots of Quinn looking quizzically in Dexter’s direction, just to make absolutely sure we got the hint that Quinn was suspicious of him? The stolen car is a huge loose end, though. I’m not sure why they even did it in the first place. He could easily have just gotten ambushed by Chase on the way up to the house. He got surprised both by Boyd (with the dart gun) and by Liddy (with the Taser) so we’ve already seen that Dexter can get careless when he’s amped up. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() There is one thing that I am still confused on. A few episodes back this season when Quinn hired Liddy to spy on dexter they where at his house and Deb came by to see him and wanted to come in. Quinn says NO NO he is with someone and she freaks out and asks if its another woman and he says Nothing like that. Well Quinn lets her in and BAM there is Liddy with a drink in his hand and Quinn says its a friend who he is helping to work through something problems. 1) At the crime scene of liddys death she did not act like she knew him or seen him before 2) never asked Quinn when trying to get him to tell her the truth that he has been hanging out with liddy. 3) WHy did they all get to the crime scene by boat and not cars like Quinn did to meet liddy at that marina . Alot of loose ends |
